iPhone 13: Does replacing the Proximity Sensor flex cable disable face id?

As most of us know, any Apple device with Face I.D. functionality has that functionality linked to the front camera assembly and the proximity sensor flex cable. In past generations, damaging the proximity sensor flex was relatively easy to do on accident, and rendered Face I.D. disabled unless you employ micro-soldering to transfer the flood illuminator to a new flex cable.

I have been searching for an answer about this on the iPhone 13 series. When these phones were first released, screen replacement would disable Face I.D. unless an IC chip on the back of the display assembly was transferred. This has since been changed, but I do not know about the proximity sensor flex. No tutorials or guides that I have found have mentioned anything about transferring the proximity sensor flex cable, so that leads me to believe that it's not necessary anymore as long as you have another one.

So my question is this: Does the proximity sensor flex cable need to be transferred to retain Face I.D. functionality as it has in past generations, or is it no longer linked in the same way that it used to be?

iPhone 13: NFC ANTENNA? Apple Pay and tap not working.

Hey guys,

My Apple Pay has not worked at all. No card machine will recognise my device is there, it worked once since this happened, but not again.

An airtag type device used called 'squid' for tracking loyalty payments which also uses NFC (I assume) also would not recognise the phone. This makes me think there is a hardware issue with something, and not an Apple Pay problem. I deleted and put all my cards back on but the different pay terminals, and this squid tap loyalty thing still didn’t recognise my phone.

So, after seeing somethings about possibly loose NFC antenna plate, or something like that, does anyone have any insight?

Or links to a guide i might use to open up the back of the iPhone, locate the plate and NFC antenna, and check if there is anything out of place from a drop potentially?

iPhone 13: Weird NFC issue *Complex?*

I would really appreciate if anyone can help me out as this issue seems bizarre to me and something I have never encountered.

NFC only works on iPhone 13 when the display is lifted from housing. Once the top portion of the display is clipped in, NFC no longer functions! Like the display is a barrier to the signal?

History: the phone has had a housing replacement which includes wireless charging flex. I have tried swapping genuine NFC flex (near camera) same issue. Not a motherboard issue as installed it into complete phone and works fine. To me this seems like a housing issue? Can a housing be faulty? And other things it can be? I have scratches the metal connections where the flex is attached to the housing for better conductivity. Still nothing.

The original housing has spot welded metal extensions which touch with the metal part on the NFC flex, on the replacement this isn't present.

iPhone 13: WiFi greyed out & Bluetooth Constant spinning

So I feel that ever since I updated to IOS 16 things have been rough, like my screen autorotate is broken, but I can live with that. What I can't live with, is the fact that the on/off slide for my WIFI is greyed out, and I can "turn it on" from the control center but it will turn off soo after. On top of that my Bluetooth is just a spinning wheel that I cannot interact with, stop, whatever.

I have tried every online solution that I could find: put it in airplane mode and restart, take it out of case, reset network settings, even those third party repair drivers apps. Nothing has worked. So today I broke and finally opened my phone for the first time and replaced both antenna and it STILL doesn't work. I have no idea what to do, I've factory reset it, I've done everything I can find, but nothing works.

Does anyone have any clue what this could be caused by?!?!?!

iPhone 13: iPhone 13 Screen Issue: Horizontal Multi-Coloured Lines

I recently encountered a sudden issue with my iPhone 13 display — banded horizontal, multi-coloured lines appeared across the entire screen, making it difficult to read and use. There were no prior software updates or major changes, and I’ve always handled the phone carefully, using a screen protector and case for protection. The only unusual behaviour I noticed beforehand was the screen occasionally flashing on and off late at night, which I initially assumed was a missed notification. In hindsight, it seems like an early sign of screen failure.

After the issue appeared, I contacted Apple Support, who advised me to perform a hard reset. When that didn’t help, I took the device to my local Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP). They ran diagnostic tests, including multiple reboots, but the horizontal lines persisted. Their diagnosis: a faulty display assembly. Unfortunately, since my device was out of warranty, the repair quote was an outrageous $456.57 USD!

I reached out to Apple again, expressing concerns over the excessive cost, but was told there was nothing they could do and that I should consider buying a new phone.

After looking into this issue further, I found numerous reports from other users experiencing the exact same problem:

Horizontal rainbow lines in iphone 13 - Apple Community

rainbow screen on iphone 13 - Apple Community

iphone 13 - The screen showing horizontal… - Apple Community

Sudden rainbow screen on iPhone 13 mini a… - Apple Community

Why does my iPhone 13 mini have verticle … - Apple Community

Flickering screen issue on iPhone 13. - Apple Community

Display issues with recent upgrade to ios… - Apple Community

iPhone 13 Mini display issue - Horizontal… - Apple Community

Rainbow lines - Apple Community

These are just a few examples — there are many more similar cases.

I still have much older iPhone XR units that have never had any screen issues to this day. Given how widespread this problem appears to be, is there any way to push Apple to acknowledge this as a manufacturing defect rather than an expensive out-of-warranty repair?

Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated!
