Hello, I recently got my iphone 13 battery replacement. Everything was going fine but then I wasn't watchful and put in my battery before I made sure the cable could attach to the logic board. As of now the cable is in its place but its a little tight

iPhone 13: Safe tools to clean iPhone receiver slit and bottom speaker/mic holes?

Hello iFixit community,

I would like to safely clean two areas on an iPhone 13 and an iPhone 15 Pro Max using the iFixit iPhone Cleaning Kit:
iPhone Cleaning Kit

The issue started after an iPhone 13 was erased and restored. During phone calls, the sound is clear when speakerphone is enabled, but the caller’s voice becomes very hard to understand when using the phone normally against the ear. That makes me suspect the top receiver/earpiece area may be dirty or partially obstructed.

I would like to know if it is safe to clean the following areas externally:

The thin top receiver/earpiece slit at the top front of the iPhone

The small holes at the bottom of the iPhone, near the Lightning/USB-C port, which may include speaker and microphone openings

From Apple’s support guidance, I understand that the receiver or speaker opening can be checked for dirt or obstruction and cleaned with a small, soft-bristled, clean, dry brush. Apple also warns against getting moisture into openings and against using compressed air.

My questions are:

Which tools from the iFixit iPhone Cleaning Kit are safe to use on the top receiver slit?

Which tools, if any, are safe to use on the small bottom holes?

Should the microbrushes only be used on the surface, without inserting them into the openings?

Should I avoid using the curved tweezers, pointed brushes, blower, or cleaning spray near these openings?

Is there a recommended technique to avoid pushing dirt deeper into the receiver, speaker, or microphone openings?

My current plan would be:

power off the iPhone;

remove the case and screen protector if needed;

use only a clean, dry, soft microbrush;

brush gently on the surface;

avoid inserting any rigid tool into the openings;

avoid any liquid near the openings.

Does this sound safe, or would you recommend another approach?

Thank you for your advice.

iPhone 13: iPhone 13 stuck in recovery mode during update

When I tried to update my phone to iOS 26.2, it went to recovery mode. I tried to update it several times, then tried to restore it three times. I took it to the Apple store where they pretty much did the same thing and then I was told that there is probably a hardware issue with the logic board and that I would have to get everything replaced. I replaced my back housing over the summer so there is a possibility that I put it back together wrong but it was working fine over the past few months so I doubt it. Does anyone know how to fix this or has anyone had this problem in the past?

iPhone 13: Battery still shows service even after tagon flex

I have tried 2 things:

1- i moved original BMS to a new battery then i added a pre programmed tag on flex and instructions says after i turn on device, battery should say unverified. Which it did, then you restart the phone and it should go away and show 100%. Except, no, after a restart phone shows service and displays 79%.

2- Many repairs guides shows them using any battery, without switching BMS, they simply add the Tag on and follow the steps above. Again, it did the same, displayed unverified then a restart makes it go back to service and 79%.

iPhone 13: Cracked screen not working after replacement

Hi all. I am no expert in phone repairs so I appreciate any input! I cracked my iPhone 13 screen by falling onto it. The screen had multiple cracks but was still fully functioning and responsive with no lines / spots.

I took it for repair but when I collected it there was an issue:

The new screen (OLED) would work only when at certain angles (not within the phone shell) and was VERY dim.

The old screen when tested again would not display an image at all - unsure if it is responsive to touch

The repair engineer suggested that the initial fall that cracked the screen could also have damaged something within the phone, which was made worse when removing the cracked phone screen. Although I’m not sure how knowledgable this guy was.

The situation now is I have a phone that is working (e.g. sounds being made when plugged in to charge etc.) but a screen that isn’t working.

I appreciate that without any further information it could be difficult to diagnose. Are there any common causes for this issue that are somewhat easy to fix? Or does anyone have any reasonably priced recommendations for repair shops in London?
