iPhone 12: iPhone 12 will not update after battery replacement

I changed the batteries on 3 iPhone 12's using good quality batteries from. 2 of the phones will not update to the latest IOS.

Because of the square edge design of the iPhone 12 and the new glue being used, I was concerned about how I would get the screens off without them cracking, so I heated the phones up to 90 degrees, used a pry tool to get the screen out of the frame slightly and then used Isopropanol to degenerate the glue.

I did not disconnect the screens when I did the battery replacement.

Could the Isopropanol be trapped in the phone causing some issues or is this because of the battery, which I doubt. The third phone seems to be ok.

I seen this once before, but did not think much of it at the time since the phone was fine. However, the issue was still there when I remembered someone saying they needed a donor camera to fix theirs. I didn’t want it even for parts due to the issue it has (bad aperture assembly, part is NLA but has what they need). Since I knew they were looking, I found sent a link (and those photos on what needs to be done to do the swap, being my 2nd round with this fault in the sense one bad a bad door and the other had a bad LCD but good door and I had a good LCD to swap over). The issue appeared again.

Is this look like a camera issue or a lighting issue with my phone?

iPhone 12: PH #00 or JCIS #00 Scews

To begin this is mainly about the screws that need to removed in order to change out the camera but it does apply across the board.

In iFixIt guides they call for the 00 Philips screw driver but in Apple's own self service guides and tool purchases/rentals it says JCIS bit. I know the differences between PH and JCIS is very minimal but it still seems somewhat important to know the difference.

So basically, regardless of how much it may or may not matter, which is the actual 100% correct tool? Does apple use JCIS screws instead of Philips or???

Thank you.

iPhone 12: "Unknown" battery after authenticating with iOS 18 Repair Assistant

The battery replacement guide states:

On iOS 18 and newer, authenticate your new battery using Apple's Repair Assistant.

And...

After your repair, depending on the replacement part, you may be able to calibrate it using Apple's Repair Assistant, available as of iOS 18. Update your device, navigate to Settings → General → About → Parts & Service History, tap Restart & Finish Repair, and follow the onscreen prompts.

I did this, but it still says the battery is "unknown". My battery was iFixit brand, not Apple. But in the repair guide it sounds like this should work either way. Has anyone gotten this to work with an iFixit brand battery in iOS 18?

iPhone 12: Issue: Face ID is not available try again later

Hello,

I have an issue with repairing my iPhone 12 and I'm stuck at the moment.

I refurbished the display as a hobby, but now I'm getting a "Face ID not available" message when I try to configure Face ID by going to Settings > Face ID & Passcode > Configure Face ID and then tapping on "Get Started". It briefly appears as if it's working, but before the scan begins, the message pops up. In General > About, I'm also alerted to the Face ID issue.

I have restored True Tone and auto brightness is functioning as well.

I have already cleaned all the sensors with alcohol once, and I've also tried setting up Face ID without closing the display, ruling out any contamination on the display as the cause. In Portrait mode, the Natural Light option is grayed out and not highlighted in yellow.

For the repair, I have i2C i6s and an SK Box. I'm not proficient in micro soldering yet, but if that's the only way to fix the issue, I'm still interested in knowing what exactly needs to be soldered.

It would greatly help me if someone could help me out and let me know if I need any additional tools for this.

Thank you in advance.

iPhone 12: iPhone doesn't charge by cable, it charges only wirelessly.

Hello,

recently I bought i secondhand iPhone 12, but I was scammed.

The iPhone doesn't charge with the lighting cable. It charges only with the wirelessly charger. Actually, when the phone is off and I'm trying to charge it by cable, it is showing that is charging, but it doesn't. (Battery level doesn't go up.)When the phone is on and I'm trying to charge it, then nothing happens, no charging indication at all. The wirelessly charger is working.

Firstly after I bought the phone, the battery died at some point, because it went to zero, so I try to charge it, but the battery was completely dead. I went into an apple store and they told me that it was probably water damage, but the guy wasn't really sure, because he couldn't see clearly the water indicator. He mentioned that he couldn't see any corrosion to the port and that the port seems to be clear. They didn't try to charge it wirelessly. They connected a diagnostic tool and they said to me that they were receiving some signals, but they were too slow, so probably I have a bad motherboard. After this, I bought a wirelessly charger, and the phone charged and start successfully! It is working ok,(except for the ear speaker, which is too low, barely you can hear it). If a try to connect it to my mac, then sometimes I'm receiving a USB indication to the iPhone for some seconds and then nothing. Do you think if I replace the charging port board, it will fix the issue? I'm planning to "bath" the board in 99.9 alcohol, too.

I can not contact the guy who sold me the phone, nor Apple is giving me his details.

I read that you cannot replace the earpiece with a new one and still have Face ID and that if you don’t have the original earpiece transferred over you simply cannot have Face ID ever again. It doesn’t sound true at all… but is it? Why would Apple make a product that would have a major feature banned from use forever because the the original piece that controls it has been broken and replaced?
