iPad Pro 9.7": iPad Pro Power Issues After Screen Replacement

I have an iPad Pro 9.7 that a customer brought in with a broken LCD/Digitizer. The tablet still worked from what we remember. We disassembled the tablet and removed the broken LCD/Digitizer. Of course, we put a guitar pick in-between the battery and the motherboard as we normally do before disconnecting the old screen and connecting the new LCD/Digitizer (got part from Mobile Defenders). The new LCD/Digitizer works perfect so we transferred the home button and sealed back up the tablet. We tested it shortly, but apparently did not catch the fact that the battery is now having issues.

Customer brought it back due to boot loop issues. The battery percentage will go anywhere from 1%-4%, or as high as 11%, but no more. I have disassembled it down to the motherboard, clean the connections underneath and on the battery with no change. I also have removed the battery and replaced it, but the new battery has the same result. In fact, I let the new battery drain all the way down, and now with the new battery the iPad gets stuck in a boot loop. It does not charge the battery at all, for as soon as I unplug the iPad, it turns off. I put the old battery back in and can get it to turn on again. When you plug a cable in the charging port, it DOES turn on the tablet and it DOES show charging, though sometimes I have to unplug and plug it back in for it to show the charging symbol. Suggestions?

iPad Pro 9.7": Power button/volume buttons not working after screen replacement.

After successfully replacing an iPad Pro 9.7" screen with no issues there power button/volume buttons do not work. These are different flex cables so this tells me something with the screen is potentially preventing the functions. I have disabled sleep/wake feature but this does not resolve the issue.

Also, oddly enough with the accessibility on the on screen power button and volume buttons will not work either. I have reconnected the old screen to see if it was a screen issue but the buttons still do not work. The power button will turn on the iPad initially as well as wake the screen but it will not put the iPad to sleep nor will it prompt a power off if held down. Any help/suggestions?

The battery was disconnected prior to any other cables were disconnect and physical everything in the device is clean and connectors inspected.

iPad Pro 9.7": How do I know if its' really the screen that is hosed?

So, I did a thing... I replaced the battery in my iPad Pro 9.7" a month ago, but upon setting the screen in place with the adhesive and testing to make sure it worked, I got weird banding of colored lines and a white halo around the edge of the screen (see attached image). I had to use a heat gun to remove the screen, and I had to heat it several times just to get the adhesive soft enough to work a spudger under the screen's edge- so I think I fried the screen. I also noticed that the back of the device got real warm while I was testing it, so I used the sleep button to power it down right away. I was so mad at myself, thinking I had botched this repair, that I set it aside in frustration.

Today I turned it on again while trying to decide what to do about it. I had to plug it in to test it, and the screen kept turning on and off, while displaying little colored lines across the screen (see image again). I'm still thinking that the screen is fried (and the battery now needs to be charged as well), but could there be more to this screen issue? I don't want to invest in a new screen repair only to find out that there are other issues than just the screen. Any insight from y'all would be very helpful. This is my personal device, and it was in immaculate condition inside and out (save for the battery which needed replacement), until I did this repair. To be fair- I have done scores of repairs with iFixit's tools and replacement parts before (including one or two other iPads), but this is the first time I've not had a completely successful repair. HELP!

iPad Pro 9.7": System shuts down randomly after battery replacement

So this is a weird issue. I recently replaced my iPad Pro 9.7’s battery with one from iFixit. The kit was perfect, and I was able to do the repair with the tools provided. However, after this, any time I attempt to use a graphically intensive application (but not CPU intensive application) and only when the smart keyboard is connected, the iPad will shut down, and become unusable until disassembled, and the battery disconnected for several seconds and reassembled. I tried a software restore from DFU mode, but to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas?

iPad Pro 9.7": Home button loose bracket

So I replaced an iPad pro9.7 screen and got as far as the home bracket replacement when swapping the home button back on the screen. I have tried to adhere the bracket in the same fashion it was in (the repair guide shows a different cabling than mine also). But I’ve noticed that after getting it in place the home button sinks and then will slide out from under the bracket causing it to not be usable.

So What I’m trying to figure out is how to get this home button and bracket back on in a way that will keep it in place. I’ve tried some double sided tape on the top and bottom of the button itself and then super-gluing the bracket, but it still slides after a couple of button presses.

I also noticed that in the guide the button cable is much slimmer than the cable I have. My cable doesn’t allow room for the cable and the bracket, the bracket only fits underneath the fold in the home button cable. I’m not sure if that makes any difference or what. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Update (03/26/2019)

Here are some pictures of the home button and bracket. If you notice the bracket is as long as the space available so it has to slide under the ribbon cable to fit properly.

I also noticed the small black dot is no longer fixed to the back of the home button. Does anyone know of a good “replacement”? It still clicks when I use my fingernail, but I think the lack of the black dot might be part of my problem.
