iPad Pro 12.9" 3rd Gen: Replacing the USB-c charging port

I have a problem with my iPad Pro 12.9 3rd gen.

The iPad suddenly stopped charging, but - if connected to the MacBook - it still exchanges data, it sychronizes (at least id did it, since now the battery is completely out of juice) without charging.

Apple told me that it might be a problem with the usb-c charging port. I receive a couple of quotes the are ridiculous (about $530 dollars). I am starting thinking I can replace the USB -c charging connector by myself. Do you have any advice on that?

thanks everybody!

iPad Pro 12.9" 3rd Gen: Replace Face ID Flex Cable on iPad Pro 12.9 Gen 3

I have an iPad Pro 12.9 gen 3 with a busted screen. Sadly the face ID flex cable was damaged as well. I read from someone that you can (on an iPhone) “desolder the Face ID Filter on the proximity sensor and move it to a brand new proximity sensor and your Face ID will work again”. I have no idea how this would be done. Is there anyone that could do this if I send the both the old and new flex cables?

iPad Pro 12.9" 3rd Gen: IPad not charging enough to turn on

Hey everyone,

Im trying to figure out what is causing this issue. The IPad stucks in a black screen, showing the battery icon (without the power cord) when I press the button to turn it on. This all happened after a screen replacement. I thought it could be the battery connector (which was replaced) causing the IPad to not charge, but it seems to be fine. I checked the resistance between each pin of the connector and the logic board and theyre all below 1 Ohm. So my next step would be checking if the battery is dead or if a part on the logic board is missing. Does anyone have some advices for me? Can anyone tell me if there is something wrong or missing in the pictures below referring to the logic board? That would help a lot.
Thanks in advance.

iPad Pro 12.9" 3rd Gen: Can I trust a 3rd party to fix a cracked screen?

The iPad Pro is working flawlessly despite the cracked screen but I still want to get it fixed. Apple is charging over $650 and I found a local shop that will do it for half that price - they claim they will do it in front of me and it will only take 30min. I am not sure if I can tryst these guys, because the part itself is already going for much more than that as listed on this site. I am worried that the screen will be of lesser quality after being fixed by them. Should I go for it?

iPad Pro 12.9" 3rd Gen: iPad Pro 3rd gen pencil dock broken

So 2 weeks after my apple care service expired, my apple pencil 2 stoped charging when magnetically attached to my iPad Pro 3rd gen. Apple's official service won't open the iPad, their answer is, we don't open iPads, we just replace them (like a thousand dollars).

I've searched EVERYWHERE for this inductive charger dock, to no avail. Is my iPad now pretty much useless forever or will I find a way to ifix it? I am thinking about disassembling it just to see if the connector got loose and I can fix it just by re plugging it in. But if the dock is broken I will have torn everything apart for nothing. So, I'd appreciate some help.

I'm based in Europe. I can buy the tools here but not the two parts (I checked the european stores and contacted two of them and they confirmed they don't and won't sell them).

On the other hand, the US store have the parts but won't deliver to Europe.

This doesn't make sense. ifixit put me in a dead end.

What other options do I have to buy these parts?

iPad Pro 12.9" 3rd Gen: Need Help Identifying Component Q2201

Hello. I am troubleshooting an iPad Pro 12.9" 3rd Generation for no touch. There is a component that has a visible burn mark on it that needs to be replaced, but I cant seem to find what it is. ZXW Tools doesn't have any information about the component itself, only the lines connected to it and where they go.

The component is called Q2201 in ZXW Tools. Can anyone identify this component? I can't read the markings on the component itself due to the burn mark. Previous/newer generation iPad Pro 12.9's all seem to use a different component in the circuit here, so I haven't had any luck using another model's schematics/boardview to identify the component in question.

Board number for my model is 820-01435-A.

Thank you.

Update: Luck would have it that another customer brought in the same iPad model for a screen replacement, so I took the shield off and took a look at their component.

It is marked, "FP G3" or "G3 FP", I guess. Attached is pic. Hopefully this helps someone?

iPad Pro 12.9" 3rd Gen: Help identifying ripped cable on iPad screen (top edge)

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a parted screen assembly on eBay, there is a ripped flex cable on this screen assembly located at the very top edge of the display assembly.

It is not one of the main display or digitizer cables, although the LCD has defects likely from heat, I’ve connected the screen and both the LCD and touch functions are still mostly functional, and these cable connects at the bottom of the screen... I believe this cable is also separate from the main Face ID and TrueDepth Camera assembly flex, as the repair guide shows them as separate assemblies.

The rip is on the thin flex that runs along the top of bezel, could anyone help me identify what does cable is and what function it serves?

Thank you all in advance,

Clippy
