iPad Pro 11": Hello everyone, I have an iPad Pro 11" M1 (2021) Nike Edition that fel

Hello everyone,

I have an iPad Pro 11" M1 (2021) Nike Edition that fell into tap water. It does not power on at all.

Here’s what happened so far:

Device fell in water (possibly some went into the speakers and ports)

Currently it is completely off, no response when pressing Power or connecting to charger

I have not tried to power it on again after water exposure

I want to avoid causing further damage

I am looking for advice from experienced repair technicians who have dealt with water-damaged iPads, specifically:

Which components are most likely damaged (ICs, power management, battery, connectors, etc.)

How to safely diagnose the device

Whether it is possible to purchase replacement parts and fix it safely

Recommendations for remote or mail-in repair services if professional help is required

Important: I do not want any repair performed before I receive a diagnostic report. I just need to know which parts are damaged and what is required for repair.

Thank you in advance for any guidance or experience you can share!

iPad Pro 11": iPad Pro 11" (2018, A1980) Water Damage – Board or Battery Issue?

Hi everyone,

I need some guidance regarding my iPad Pro 11" (2018, model A1980) which suffered a water incident about 1-2 years ago. I just tried to power it on after a long time, and here’s the situation:

Symptoms / Observations:

The iPad initially did not respond at all.

I used an FNB58 USB tester to monitor charging.

After cleaning some corrosion at the USB-C port with 99% isopropyl alcohol:

Initially drew ~0.08 A at 5 V (minimal current).

After a hard reset and leaving it connected, it briefly reached 15 V / 1 A → iPad made the charging chime, but it did not start and is not detected by a Mac.

Currently, I cannot get it back to 15 V / 1 A. It stays at 5 V / 0.08 A, and when performing a hard reset combination, it briefly goes to 5 V / 0.5 A for a few seconds, then drops back.

USB-C port had minor green/blue corrosion, cleaned.

iPad reacts to PD negotiation sometimes, but cannot maintain the higher voltage/current.

Other notes:

Hard resets can temporarily change the current, but it never boots.

I suspect the battery may be too deeply discharged or damaged.

Questions:

Given the PD behavior and charging currents, does this point to just a failing battery, or could the logic board be damaged?

Is it worth attempting a USB-C port replacement, or would that not change the current behavior?

Are there any safe ways to get it to stabilize at 15 V so I can see if it will boot?

Any other tests you would recommend before considering a battery or board replacement?

Thanks in advance for any guidance – I can provide photos of the port and FNB58 readings if needed.

iPad Pro 11": iPad Pro 11 gen 1 doesn't charge above 1%

Hi everyone!

I have a problem with my iPad,

the device is already quite old, bought in November 2018.

It has 755 battery cycles.

The program coconoutBattery shows that its maximum capacity is 118mah at 7800mah.

When I plug it in to charge (original cable and Apple charger) the device does not charge above 1% and reboots itself after a minute.

I have already tried resintalation of the software using the 3uTools tool with the option to clear battery memory checked.

Unfortunately, this doesn't help anything.

In DFU and Recovery Mode the device does not turn off or restart (it is plugged into the charger).

Is it possible to determine that the problem is the old battery? I would like to order a new one and replace it. Just wondering if this is not a different problem.

The device is not damaged, it has never fallen down.

iPad Pro 11": The usb-c port doesn’t trasfer data.

I recently changed the usb-c port of my iPad because it was faulty, moving the cable would interrupt the charge and the data connection, before the replacing I tried to scratch the connection line on the original usbc port trying to fixing it but it made it worse, the iPad wouldn’t connect anymore.
iPad Pro 11": Internal USB-C port cable coming unseated after replacement

I have a small human with a massive fidget impulse, and seem to be caught in a loop where I need to replace the USB-C port on his iPad every six months. It would be nice if Apple decided to make repairable devices, but that doesn't seem to be coming any time soon. So I've gotten reasonably proficient at this repair, and have even gotten a heat pad for warming glue to make it easier to take off the screen, along with a bag of 10 USB-C port replacements. This has worked reasonably well until this week. Now I get the new port successfully installed, seated and reglued to the iPad. I confirm it's working by charging the device and even unplug/replug the USB-C cable three to four times and wiggle it around a fair bit to confirm it's all in place securely. Then it works for about 6-10 hours and then stops charging again. If I open it back up again and re-seat the charging port internal cable connection (step 30 on iPad Pro 11" 1st Gen USB-C Port Replacement) it will charge just fine again, for about a day or half day. I've tried swapping out the port for a new one - and am now on my third replacement port I've checked the port on the iPad to see if there are any unhappy or bent pins and can't see any that look amiss, and indeed when I reinstall it seats and does two satisfying if quiet clicks for each side of the little port. I'm wondering if anyone has had better luck keeping these down - should I try to add adhesive somewhere else (I'm not sure where this woudl possibly by)? Am at a bit of a loss and definitely can't get caught in a death loop of repairing this port every 24 hours. Any advice most welcome!
