iPad Wi-Fi: No Speaker Sound - Headphones Work Fine

Hi All,

The sound on my iPad all of a sudden stopped working. The sound works fine with headphones in and I can change the volume, but when I unplug the headphones I get absolutely no sound from the speaker, and I can't even change the volume.

I originally thought this must have been a software issue so I went through all the settings, checked mute etc.

After that, I tried a reset using the power and home button, and I even restored to factory settings.

I then changed the speaker with a new one, still no luck.

I have now changed the headphone jack as I thought this may have been interfering, but there is still no sound.

Any help would be very much appreciated!!!

Thanks,

Michael

iPad Wi-Fi: How to bypass iPad A1396 Activation Lock?

Yeahhh, so this definitely sounds like a dishonest question to be asking but this is my kid’s iPad, promise. My daughter cracked our old family iPad, A1396. When I bought a new digitizer and when I tried replacing the screen, I hacked through what I learned through here is the Flex cable. Well, I eventually got around to installing that and everything works as it should now. Except, I made an error during install and thought I need to reset the iPad because it was stuck on the connecting to wifi screen. It wouldn’t allow me to cancel it and retry and I didn’t have the power button attached right to exit. So, stupid me- reset it somehow. I went back inside fixed my power button again and got it back running to enter in my Apple ID. This time it went passed the wifi section and got stuck in an Activation Lock screen. I can not get passed it. Apparently, the person who sold it to me 5-years ago, I believe, has their email address still assigned to it. The iPad went back to his information. It’s 5-years ago. I do not have the receipt.

I was on support with Apple for 45 minutes. Basically, you are SOL ma’am. I verified that this iPad was on my iCloud account. Hooked it up to my PC, etc. Oh, and she suggested that maybe if I deleted this iPad from my iCloud account, that maybe I can sign in the verification section then. I told her my hesitation about that, but I did it anyway feeling like that it may be my only option.

It didn’t work. I now have a useless iPad, but a fixed one! I need to get this working again for my kiddo.

Can someone please share with me a way to get around the Activation Lock screen, either here or PM me, please?

UGHHHH this stinks!

iPad Original: iPad won't enter DRU nor Recovery Mode

I have tried multiple ways and directions on how to get this iPad, it’s model a1458, into either recovery or DFU mode, neither are working.

When I try holding both power off and home button and never release them, it just keeps turning off, then apple logo, then off, then apple logo (keeps looping).

When I try holding power and home to turn off, then when black screen release power but keep holding home, it just goes back to the ipad disabled screen.

When I try holding home and plugging into USB it boots up to ipad disabled screen and itunes never finds it.

I’ve tried all of the above with USB connected, then again without USB.

I’ve also tried #2 with USB first unplugged, then when black screen plug into USB.

So I’ve tried a lot of combinations, I’ve also done this to other ipads before without issue, this one is belligerent.

Any ideas to get into recovery or DFU? I’m trying to factory reset without original icloud account since we don’t have it. Attached is what is on the screen now, it won’t connect to itunes anymore either.

iPad Wi-Fi: Digitizer(Touch screen), Not responding after Tear down.

Hello,

I am experienced in almost all Mac hardware, but i am stumped w/ this issue. Any Help would be great!(iPad 64gb Wifi)

I tore down my iPad to replace a peeling digitizer. Upon reassembly, The iPad was working O.K., but the digitizer was locking up and responding very poorly. I decided it must need replaced and ordered a new digitizer through ebay. Now after replacing the digitizer, the touch screen will not respond...

The home button works fine, as well as power/volume/lock.The screen also still inverts. Plus it charges and is recognized in iTunes. I have tried resetting it Via Home+power. Any help would be Great!

UPDATE:

It has been nearly a year now, So I figured it can't hurt anything to try a new digitizer. My Ipad still powers on, resets, inverts, connects to itunes, chargers etc. etc. etc. I have thought about this thoroughly and there is no other logical answer besides the digitizer I received is defective.

When the iphone 4 was new alot of the replacement screens were garbage, and I think it ws the same with the iPads. I originally believed I had damaged the logic board when the retaining clips on the logic board broke off, but after speaking to an electrical engineer, He doesn't believe this makes since. He fixed his broken retaining clips using a thin strip of mylar tape under the tab. I ordered a roll of mylar tape and the entire display assembly which includes the display, midboard, digitzer, clips, etc and a roll of mylar tape for 60$, I will update as soon as I receive the shipment.

Update 2:

Replaced the digitizer again, and no change. As a conclusion, this board is fried, and my iPad is a useless paperweight... I would not recommend buying a logic board for one of these, it's just to much money compared to an ipad 2 16gb. It is really unfortunate, Everything works software and hardware wise, but the screen just doesn't respond to touch. You may be able to salvage some of your loses selling it for parts on ebay.

iPad Wi-Fi: Ipad Dock connector no longer working

Is it possible to replace the dock connector for the ipad, is this part available?

My 2 month old ipad dock connector is dead! I've tried multiple cables which work on my iphone without success.

Because it's jailbroken I can't take it in under warranty and because the dock is broken I can't restore it... talk about being between a rock and a hard place!

The unit does charge but it's a trickle charge and takes forever, in fact to get it to full charge it has to be on most of the day which defeats the object of having the thing in the first place.

Could simply replacing the dock connector be the answer?

I'm using Cydia's Wi-Fi sync to "talk" to the unit through itunes so it's not a total train smash but very annoying.
