iPad Mini Wi-Fi: Backlight stopped working after assembly iPad Mini

So my girlfriend couldn’t remember her iCloud email and unlock the A1454 iPad, I decided to try and remove r1204 and short r1205 to turn it into iPad Mini WiFi, that worked like a charm, it went into DFU and flashed the firmware.

After creating a new iCloud account, I checked if everything is working, and everything seemed OK. Powered the thing off and started putting it back together, EMI shields and all that, but when I tried to power it on before pressing the display back in, it stayed black, the backlight was not working.

Checked the L2200 fuse - continuity is there, as well as between the diode leg and connector pins, D8228 seems fine too, 3.8V on one side, 0 on the other, diode testing mode shows 0 in one direction and 2 and change in the other, hard resets and an additional DFU did not help, connectors look ok.

Honestly, I have no idea what else to look at here.

I was ready to throw this thing out when I decided to try and unlock the iCloud, but that work out great and this new issue popped out of nowhere, bummer =(

I really want to figure this out, please help

Update (10/20/2019)

Oh wow, just figured out, that 2.07V reading in diode test mode is the voltage drop, which for PMEG4010BEA used in the iPad should be around 0.54V, so it’s probably the diode after all, those things are 8 cent a pop, but I’ll need to grab some new tips for my soldering station to swap it ha ha

iPad Mini Wi-Fi: Multiple screens, Touch failure after a couple days

hey there team.

I have an iPad mini in my store, and i really would like to get it running for my customer. we have replaced the Touch panel assembly (With Control I/C) three times now. twice of which under warranty, and the same issue shows up.

Immediately after the repair, the touch functions perfectly fine. there is no issue for about 2 days. after which the touch stops. When we run a hard reset (Home/Power for 15Sec) it works fine again for a couple days, then stops.

(Yes, i HAVE put the tape across the digi and home button flex to stop any shorts on the frame.)

if anyone has had this issue before, please contact me with the way you fixed it.

If there is any known board issue with this problem, i have the tools and skillset to do micro SMT Solder work, so if you could post me an image highlighting what would need to be replaced, ill get started on that.

iPad Mini Wi-Fi: Problems after digitizer replacement.

I just did my first digitizer replacement on my iPad mini wifi, and everything went smoothly as far as I could tell. Before I glued it down I tested the screen and everything seemed perfect, so I glued it down, took special care to not pinch the ribbon cable. And when I power it up, the screen works fine for the most part. The problems are:

1) dark black lines covering maybe 1/4 inch at the bottom of the screen.

2) randomly, those black lines start to travel up toward the top of the screen, but if I put pressure on certain spots of the screen, they go back down.

3) in some apps, the lines take over the whole screen and won't go away until I close the app.

All of these problems persist, but the digitizer still seems to work fine in regards to responding to touch. Please help me figure out the problem!

iPad Mini Wi-Fi: iPad Mini will not charge, no power, not recognized by iTunes?

So I purchased an iPad Mini on ebay which was listed as broken so that I would be able to get some more experience with repair of the Mini. The seller stated that the iPad had been low on battery and shut off, and that it never came back on. I read Jessa's reply to a similar problem on here saying that the iPad Mini can be affected by non-Apple charging cords and that this can cause damage to the logic board. The seller included a non-Apple cord in the box with the Mini.

I noticed that there was a previous repair attempt on this device, as some screws were missing on the inside, and the seller confirmed that they had taken it to a shop, but they could not fix the issue. I tried to connect to iTunes, but the device was not recognized, and a hard reset did not work. I disconnected the battery and reconnected it, and it did not change anything. What component would have likely received damage due to a knockoff charger and how would I go about replacing it? If there is another possible cause, what could that be? Thanks.
