iPad Mini 3 Wi-Fi: Does the 2nd gen digitizer fits the 3th gen iPad Mini

The Question is simple, does the 2nd gen iPad mini digitizer fit the 3th gen iPad mini?

The connector seems to be the same in the teardown, the size is the same. So the only problem can be: Is the Touch-ID button is the same size as the old home-button?

Can anyone check this out? It would save a lot in repair cost to to the fact hat the digitizer are allready availible in good prices.

iPad Mini 3 Wi-Fi: Boots to apple logo then shuts off

Hey everyone,

I wanted to post here as I also fix iphones, ipads, ipods and provide micro soldering on basic level repairs such as charge ports, ps4 hdmi ports, ipod batteries, etc...

Anyways, I have a customer who brought their Ipad Mini 3 Wifi + Cellular in for repair. It needed the LCD Replaced. After replacing I plugged the ipad in to charge as it was sitting out in the cold and hot for many months since it was broken! It took about 45 minutes just to turn out. It was charging at 1.8amps close at 5 volts. Anyways, it turned on finally and had a passcode. Customer didn't remember it so he asked to restore it for him! So, I let the ipad charge and it took about 4 hours to fully charge from 0 to 100 percent and was working and it was staying on. The next morning I downloaded the ipsw and did it twice... I restored the ipad both in iTunes and 3utools and it was successful. Now it turns on to the apple logo at 0.42 volts for about 8 seconds then shuts off to 0.01 volts. When I press the power button again to turn it back on it repeats the same thing over.

I took the ipad apart and tested the battery with a multimeter and their are 4 solder joints on the battery itself. I have two readings and the battery is rated at 3.75volts. I tested the battery at 4.1volts and also 2.3volts. I also tested the charge port connector pin and I am receiving 5 volts.

Now, I am wondering if a new battery will fix the problem as its under voltage to go past the apple logo on start up. I am completely lost and I want to know if anyone with board level experience can assist me to get this thing working again! Please, no stupid answers like did you try putting the ipad into dfu mode and this and that.

I took proper measurements and need expertise help at board level to help me determine if you guys think its the battery being faulty! Like I said it was working great before restoring at the passcode screen. Restoring seems to hang at the apple logo screen and shut off.

Anyone help is greatly appreciated!

It also has no water damage and was sitting dead for almost a year

It's also about 2 - 3 years old

Thank you

iPad Mini 3 Wi-Fi: Replaced digitizer AND home button, works, but touch error on power on

Hi, replaced digitizer and home button on an iPad 3 mini. Home button works fine, digitizer works fines.. Upon power on, get touch_id_issue_notification_title popup notification. Click it, goes away, can use tablet fine. We do not need touch ID. Is there a way to disable this message permanently? I have researched it some and it looks like the touch ID will never work unless Apple themselves replaces the home button (wow). But we do not need Touch ID at all, ever. Just want to remove the message. Turned off everything in touch id settings and still pops up. Any input would be appreciated. OS 11.3. Thanks!

iPad Mini 3 Wi-Fi: touch not working after digitizer replacement

My wife's iPad Mini 3 (A1599) was dropped a few years ago and had a cracked screen. My brother-in-law attempted a replacement but touch never worked. My wife would really like to get some files off the device that are not in cloud storage but I haven't been able to get past the lock screen without touch.

I purchased a new digitizer, installed it and touch still doesn't work. Looking at where it plugs in, I noticed a pin is missing (see picture). Is that likely the issue and is that board replaceable?

The goal is to get some files from the device, not have a working device afterwards. Thanks for any help and advice.

iPad Mini 3 Wi-Fi: What is causing my ipad mini replacement LCD to randomly act up

As you may have read in my previous post, my iPad lcd was broken and acted up with lines and dead pixels after a hard impact. I replaced the lcd soon after. A month after replacing the display, the lcd was filled with lines though I didn't drop the iPad or put it in liquid. It happened suddenly and without warning except for the screen being usually white on the right side. That took me by surprise. It got better for a minute and suddenly returned to being filled with lcd lines. Then after a while, it got better temporarily and i had some time to go make a backup. Then it got unusable with lines again. I noticed the lines got worse and a huge white spot with a surrounding white area appeared over the lines. What should I do to repair my ipad. And is this a sign that my screen is faulty? Please help

iPad Mini 3 Wi-Fi: Touch Not Working after Digitizer & FPC Connector Replacement

I’ve got an iPad Mini 3 WiFi (A1599) that belongs to a friend of mine that I'm working on. A few months back they dropped the iPad and it cracked the digitizer in the top right corner by the power button. They asked if I would repair it which I agreed to do. I replaced the digitizer and all was well.

A couple weeks ago they called and told me that the Digitizer was starting to lift in one of the corners. I told them no big deal and that I would re-tape the digitizer. This was partially my fault as I should have re-taped the replacement digitizer with my Tesa tape when I originally installed it, instead of leaving the garbage adhesive that came on the digitizer. But I despise working on iPads and just wanted to get it back together and off my workbench as quickly as possible. =p

So I got the iPad a couple days ago and disassembled so that I could remove and clean the old adhesive. I applied some new adhesive and proceeded to test fit the LCD & digitizer so that I could do a final test before final re-assembly. At this point I booted up the iPad and noticed that the Touch wasn't working. The Home Button and everything else was fine, but the digitizer was not responding to touch. So I attempted to re-seat the digitizer connecter when I noticed that a couple of the contacts were missing from the Digitizer FPC Connector. I replaced the FPC connector with a new one, booted up the iPad but still, No Touch! I swapped the digitizer with another one I had lying around but still, No Touch!. I also checked each leg on the FPC Connector with my multi-meter, and each one is making contact with the pads on the board, so I’ve ruled that out also.

I've never come across this issue before and was wondering what else I can check and/or replace to get the touch working again. Perhaps an IC or filter that maybe got shorted out when the FPC connector pins came loose?

Thanks in advance.

iPad Mini 3 Wi-Fi: Could a Touch-ID home button replacement ever work?

Hello!

According to itunes error 53 after iPhone 6 home button replacement?replacing the Touch-ID home button will always lead to the ipad being unusable after updating it. (Error 53).

My questions:

1) is this true?

2) has it always been true?

3) would taking the old home button and just replacing the cable work?

The reason I am asking: I brought my iPad to a repair service with broken digitizer and severed home button connecting cable. They told me that replacing the home button with authentic apple home button would work((see question 1). I accepted a 170€ repair and now the iPad is unusable. They threw away my original home button(see question 3). They tell me the issue is a recent one coming with an IOS update and that previous Touch-ID home button replacements have worked.(see question 2) I should wait if there is a fix in the next IOS update.

Thank you for your help

iPad Mini 3 Wi-Fi: Apps cannot be installed nor deleted after screen replacement+issues

Hi, so I tried replacing the digitizer and some of the usual issues occurred along with some that are quite rare :

1 ~ The old problem of power button not working if applying a short press while it still works if you press longer in order to power on/off the iPad.

2~Apps wiggle when you touch and hold ,the delete bubble is there but then you can't delete the app nor install it using the IPad,but it still works if you install via iTunes,it bothers in case you are interested in apps directly through Safari .

3~Even if the iPad is turned the LCD is black nonetheless (A common issue which can be solved by connecting to iTunes and activating VoiceOver and Inverting Colors from there .

4~~Home button not working .

These problems are common for IPad mini(3,4) ,and I think they are related to the cables of the home button not being placed appropriately ,since when I sometimes touch those flex cables some of these problems are solved like temporarily but then come back.

Can someone give me some instructions to solve especially the broblems ~1 ~2 .
