iPad Mini 3 Wi-Fi: Could a Touch-ID home button replacement ever work?

Hello!

According to itunes error 53 after iPhone 6 home button replacement?replacing the Touch-ID home button will always lead to the ipad being unusable after updating it. (Error 53).

My questions:

1) is this true?

2) has it always been true?

3) would taking the old home button and just replacing the cable work?

The reason I am asking: I brought my iPad to a repair service with broken digitizer and severed home button connecting cable. They told me that replacing the home button with authentic apple home button would work((see question 1). I accepted a 170€ repair and now the iPad is unusable. They threw away my original home button(see question 3). They tell me the issue is a recent one coming with an IOS update and that previous Touch-ID home button replacements have worked.(see question 2) I should wait if there is a fix in the next IOS update.

Thank you for your help

iPad Mini 3 Wi-Fi: Looking for help repairing Mini 3 enough to access data

Hi,

The screen on my ipad mini 3 (A1599) broke several years ago. I should have brought the device somewhere to have it replaced by someone with experience, however, after a series of bad attempts it's now in a spot where I'm wondering if it can be repaired at all.

A friend tried to replace the screen but ended up breaking a pin on the digitizer connector. The system would boot up but there was no way to enter the PIN or use touch ID, the screen was unresponsive.

I then asked another friend who is a EE if they could replace that connector. They attempted but failed, see attached image.

I'm looking for someone who can help with this repair or advise me that there is no chance of getting this system to run long enough to grab some locally stored data from it. The data is worth enough to my wife that I'm willing to pay someone who knows what they're doing to help before I recycle the device.

iPad Mini 3 Wi-Fi: Why is only half of my lcd working on my mini 3 wi-fi?

The battery on my mini 3 needed to be replaced. I'm a novice but got the battery installed and checked before I closed everything up to see if it worked. The touchscreen works for the entire screen, but only half of the lcd works correctly. Did I flex the lcd too much when I removed it?

iPad Mini 3 Wi-Fi: LCD turns on then off after replacement

I got a third party display and front glass + digitizer for replacement. After following all the steps in the guide, I went to test both while the iPad was still open.

At first, the LCD turned on as normal, the home button worked, but the digitizer gave me nothing.

Then, after fumbling a bit, trying reconnecting both, the LCD started turning on then immediately off every time I rebooted the iPad holding both the home and lock buttons for a few seconds.

The screen only got to showing the Apple logo for a bit, then going black, including the backlight.

The iPad stayed on as it made the charging sound, and got picked up in iTunes.

I thought I had killed the display, but no, the old one also did the same thing when I tested it.

So what could be the issue here? thanks

iPad Mini 3 Wi-Fi: Power button not working correctly after digitizer replacement

Hello all. I have an iPad Mini 3. I recently replaced the touch screen because it was cracked and now the Mini doesn't lock or wake with the top power button, however it works when holding it to shut the Mini down.

Unlike the Mini 4 and newer, the 3 doesn't have a sleep/wake sensor that needs to be transferred over from the original screen.

Thinking it could have been the aftermarket digitizer, I tired disconnecting the home button and digitizer at the same time, then just the digitizer but got no change with the power button.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

iPad Mini 3 Wi-Fi: touch not working after digitizer replacement

My wife's iPad Mini 3 (A1599) was dropped a few years ago and had a cracked screen. My brother-in-law attempted a replacement but touch never worked. My wife would really like to get some files off the device that are not in cloud storage but I haven't been able to get past the lock screen without touch.

I purchased a new digitizer, installed it and touch still doesn't work. Looking at where it plugs in, I noticed a pin is missing (see picture). Is that likely the issue and is that board replaceable?

The goal is to get some files from the device, not have a working device afterwards. Thanks for any help and advice.

iPad Mini 3 Wi-Fi: What is causing my ipad mini replacement LCD to randomly act up

As you may have read in my previous post, my iPad lcd was broken and acted up with lines and dead pixels after a hard impact. I replaced the lcd soon after. A month after replacing the display, the lcd was filled with lines though I didn't drop the iPad or put it in liquid. It happened suddenly and without warning except for the screen being usually white on the right side. That took me by surprise. It got better for a minute and suddenly returned to being filled with lcd lines. Then after a while, it got better temporarily and i had some time to go make a backup. Then it got unusable with lines again. I noticed the lines got worse and a huge white spot with a surrounding white area appeared over the lines. What should I do to repair my ipad. And is this a sign that my screen is faulty? Please help

Ive just bought an ipad mini to repair. Previous owner said “item has smashed screen. It was working but then froze and wouldnt turn off. Battery finally ran down and turned off. It charged again, but now wont charge or turn on”. So i know it obviously needs a new digitiser, and possibly a new LCD. Ive just put it on charge and its showing 5.17 V, and Amps are between 0.64 - 0.84. Does this indicate a faulty charging port, battery or something else?. Im new to repairing the ipads so any help would be gratefully received. Regards, Gary.
