iPad Mini 2 LTE: cellular disabled by vendor

I purchased a used Model a1490 from a baggage reclaim store. The cellular function is disabled. The model number reported in general/about is mf066ll/a. There is not a mini sim installed. I have installed one and it has made no difference. When I ourchased the unit the clerk said they disabled the cellular. I'm wondering if there is a way to return that functionality

Thank You

iPad Mini 2 LTE: Very light nail remover smell

Greetings!

I changed my iPad mini 2 battery recently to an unknown manufacturer model and it started rebooting every 2 - 3 minutes.

I purchased then old original battery and the rebooting problem is now gone.

But another problem is I sniffed the battery for some reason :) and found it smells like nail polish remover.

The smell is very light and could be noticed if I sniff the battery itself only, but it worries me.

The battery doesnt have any signs of physical damage.

Two questions so far then:

Do I have to replace the battery?

Where to buy good working battery or how to distinguish good one?

iPad Mini 2 LTE: Touch doesn't work, but Home does. LCD stops working after boot

I replaced the LCD and Digitizer on a Ipad Mini 2 (A190). Here is a list of my problems.

1) After replacing both the LCD and digitizer, the ipad was in need of charging. The LCD turns on to display the red battery. Confirms the LCD works.

2) After the boot logo and the ipad charged, the LCD works for a few minutes to display the homescreen, then goes blank.

3) During those few minutes of the LCD working, I tested the digitizer. The home button works, but touch does not.

4) The power button does not respond to turn the ipad display on. Only the home button turns on the display.

5) LCD goes blank. I reconnect the charger to verify if the ipad is dead. It is not as there is a connecting charge sound.

6) After letting the ipad die over a 24hr period, the LCD works again to display the dead-battery logo.

7) I did not disconnect the battery at all during this installation; however, the iPad was completely dead during installation.

Any idea what's going on? This is new to me after years of ipad screen repairs. First time experiencing this.

Update (03/01/2018)

I have just now tried to use a new digitizer. The problem is still persisting though. LCD works fine. The digitizer touch is not responding at all, home button responds. I made sure to test the power button, volume, and silence switch, they are all unresponsive once the ipad is charged in addition to the inoperable touch feature.

Attached is a photo of my ports.

iPad Mini 2 LTE: What is GPIO_GRAPE_IRO_L on the Touch Connector responsible for?

I've got an Ipad with a ripped touch connector, all damaged pads I marked red in the image. Only pin 16 aka 23 is problematic. In the schematic it's listed as GPIO_GRAPE_IRO_L. Aside from trying to figure out how to fix/ bodge it, as there is no connected component near, with the connecting pin being in the middle of an IC and it's brother on the B side, what does this specific pin do? Is it redundant or maybe doesn't play a role for basic single finger touch and is only used for something like 3D touch?

I've never read a schematic before so I'm a bit clueless...

Got a mini 2 cellular tablet from a friend that said someone replaced a cracked digitizer but then the tablet wouldn’t turn on. So now I’m looking at it and when i took it apart the battery connector didn’t seem fully connected in. I checked the ipad with a tristar tester and everything was ok but it said the battery wasn’t connected. After i disassembled it it took a charge with high amps 2.12 or so then gradually went down to zero in the morning. So now reassembled it wont turn on. Strange that person wanted to keep divice after it wouldn’t work for parts… besides replace screen to see if it (suddenly went bad) Can you think of anything that i’m missing ?
iPad Mini 2 LTE: Is this a battery leak?

I opened an iPad Mini earlier to replace the screen and found a shiny coating on one end of the battery. Does this look like a battery leak?

Image

The coating is already dry and feels fairly smooth. It only appears along the top of the battery along the edge that's exposed under the LCD shield plate. There's no sign of fluid below the battery or elsewhere in the iPad. This device has been repaired before.

If it's not from the battery, is there anything else in there that might leak? The LCD looks fine. There were no reported battery issues, either.

The first option is a reboot ... it did not work. The iPad's touchpad did not work after restart.

Suddenly my iPad Mini2 Model A1489 now shows "Slide to Setup" Instead of its usual "Slide to turn on" when I plug it in or turn it on using the "Sleep/Wake" button. The iPad was working fine the day before, and all I did was turn it off and unplug it, as usual. The next day, when I plugged it in, the iPad responded with "Slide to Setup." It recognized my password, then said "Connect to Wifi" and "Connect to iTunes." Since I do not have Wifi, I connected the iPad to my old Mac that still has iTunes. The iPad beeps, and the iPad window on my computer shows the title of my iPad, but the rest of the window is blank, with the Apple logo but no menu, settings options, or content. At the same time, my iPad screen still shows "Connect to iTunes." The "Home" button on my iPad gives no result. Connecting the iPad to my new Mac that has "Music" instead of iTunes makes the iPad beep, but the iPad does not show up on that Mac. The "Sleep/Wake" button on the iPad works OK, and the iPad battery shows 100%. The iPad iOS is 8.2. Help!
