iPad Air LTE: replaced glass, home button sunkin in?

hi, I just replaced my iPad Air's broken glass with a replacement from ifixit, the replacement was quality and basically if not certainly a factory item. My problem after a rather successful install is that now my home button is sunkin in on the left side? I am confused. I have the old glass, and I keep clicking the home button and its perfect. But then when I click the home button of the replaced glass, it's like I am sticking my finger in a hole before I hit the button...

Maybe someone from ifixit can responde and let me know if this is something that was supposed to happen. And if not inform me of how to remedy the problem.

Thank you.

iPad Air LTE: Smart Cover Locks iPad Air from Back Side

Howdy everyone!

I purchased my iPad Air (AT&T) from Craigslist with a broken digitizer/front glass panel, figuring that I could repair it for myself since I've repaired broken iPad digitizes many times, But this was my first time doing an Air.

The problem I'm having is just as the title says. After I sealed up the digitizer, everything works perfectly, except then I decided to buy a Smart Cover and now when I fold the Smart Cover back so that it lies flat against the backside of the iPad, it locks it!

This has become a serious nuisance for using it, and I'm trying to understand why it does it and how to fix it before I have to spend hours opening and re-sealing it again. I've seen on other posts that the circuitry installed on the home button cable is what allows the Smart Cover to lock and unlock the iPad. Is that true?

Could it be that the digitizer/front glass panel that I bought on eBay is faulty? Is that why it locks inappropriately? Could it simply be because it's a cheap Chinese replacement part?

Any ideas would be much appreciated! For now, I can use my iPad like normal, it's just irritating that my iPad locks when I fold back the Smart Cover. I'm so used to using the Smart Cover freely on my old iPad 2! :]

Thanks so much!

iPad Air LTE: iPad Air behaving erratically: "ghost touching" after screen replacement?

Usually, but not always, the replaced screen starts to behave erratically a while after installation. Immediately after screen replacement it works fine, but during the same day it starts to have these "ghosting" problems. The funny thing is that not every screen have this problem. I have been wondering what can cause this problem. Does the adhesive "let go"? Two screws at the top of the screen has a black protection sticker. I have tried to skip them and to keep them but still it doesn't help. I have tried to be really precise when I remove the old adhesive from the frame. I have also tried a "so called solution" to tape the digitizer copperframe, still no good. I also use the old home button. Are my replacement screens bad quality or am I doing something wrong?

iPad Air LTE: Data Recovery from a Dead Ipad

Please I have an iPad Air 1, with a damaged charging port, as a result the battery has gone dead and I'm unable to charge it up.

I have researched on how to replace the charging port of an iPad Air 1 and I learnt it involves some microsoldering techniques which can be quite difficult. I have taken it to several repair shops and they are unable to help me out as they lack the necessary skills.

Right now, I am looking for any possible means to recover my data from the iPad as I unfortunately do not have an iCloud back up.

The options I am evaluating includes.

Buying an iPad Air 1 Battery replacement and changing the battery out, hoping that the new battery has some juice in it enough to power the battery to allow me recover my documents, but the downside is that with a damaged charging port, I may not be able to connect to a PC to get what I need.

To Buy a completely New iPad Air 1, and possibly open it up, to swap the motherboard and any other parts that may be useful and contributes to the storage from the old iPad onto the new one, with hopes of being able to restore all my lost data. But I don't know how feasible this is, and whether it's even possible.

Please at the moment, I'm out of options and need help. I am open to any suggestions. Thank you.

iPad Air LTE: Panel replacement - outdated battery isolation method warning?

I am following the guide for front panel replacement and have so far managed to free the screen from the glue.

My problem is the guide has a warning (below) about the battery isolation pick procedure, which it says is outdated - can anyone advise of the new / preferred method or point me to a resource that can help?

“The battery isolation pick or battery blocker is an outdated way of isolating the battery, as you risk damaging the battery pins underneath the logic board.
iPad Air LTE: Battery drains, no water damage

Didn’t notice at first since I thought the iPad battery just needed replacement due to age. iPad was in a beautiful condition, very little signs of use, no signs of water damage nor signs of previous repairs. Replaced the original battery with a brand new good quality SMP battery. Everything works fine from what I can see, no glitch whatsoever, except an unexpected power leak of about 1% per hour. Tried disconnecting everything from the logic board except screen and digitizer, every function was disabled including wifi and localization..no change. Looked around for shorts on main lines and couldn’t find any lead, but I don’t have much experience on iPads and ZXW is not of great help with this board. Has anyone encountered anything similar before ?

iPad Air LTE: Can I use an A1474 main board as a replacement?

A1475 logic boards are quite expensive, while A1474 boards seem much more readily available. From my uneducated perspective, the major difference between the two is that the A1475 has a spot to hook up the LTE antennas, and I'm sure some circuitry to process it.

Can I slap an A1474 board in there and just not hook up the LTE antennas, and use the unit as a Wifi only Ipad? The reason the board is bad in the first place is the power management chip is bad (confirmed by replacing the battery and still not being able to charge).
