iPad Air LTE: iPad restore stuck on verifying iPad restore

I am trying to factory reset an ipad air for a customer.

In iTunes it is stuck on Verifying iPad Restore. it has been like this even overnight at one point. i have tried regular recovery mode restore, update and restore, dfu restore and a few so-called “iDevice software repair programs” like PhoneRescue. It is the same problem with itunes(macOS Sierra with latest itunes installed) and in Finder (macOS Catalina)

the iPad is stuck in recovery mode.

the owner wants the battery replaced because it is terrible, should i try restoring with a new battery installed? i don’t want to install a new battery if i can’t restore it anyways.

any thoughts?

The iPad is stuck on this screen during attempted restore.

When i unplug the ipad, itunes says error 9 occurred.

iPad Air LTE: Can you test the Lightning port of an iPad?

I work for a company that manages a fleet of 1st gen iPad Airs and 6th gen iPads. I’ve recently been getting a lot of iPads returned to me because of suspecting charging issues. I think a number of these issues are due to faulty 3rd party cables/chargers. Is there a way to test a lightning port without removing the display of the iPad? I just want to test if the lightning port is drawing the correct current to charge the battery.

iPad Air LTE: Data Recovery from a Dead Ipad

Please I have an iPad Air 1, with a damaged charging port, as a result the battery has gone dead and I'm unable to charge it up.

I have researched on how to replace the charging port of an iPad Air 1 and I learnt it involves some microsoldering techniques which can be quite difficult. I have taken it to several repair shops and they are unable to help me out as they lack the necessary skills.

Right now, I am looking for any possible means to recover my data from the iPad as I unfortunately do not have an iCloud back up.

The options I am evaluating includes.

Buying an iPad Air 1 Battery replacement and changing the battery out, hoping that the new battery has some juice in it enough to power the battery to allow me recover my documents, but the downside is that with a damaged charging port, I may not be able to connect to a PC to get what I need.

To Buy a completely New iPad Air 1, and possibly open it up, to swap the motherboard and any other parts that may be useful and contributes to the storage from the old iPad onto the new one, with hopes of being able to restore all my lost data. But I don't know how feasible this is, and whether it's even possible.

Please at the moment, I'm out of options and need help. I am open to any suggestions. Thank you.

iPad Air LTE: Smart Cover Locks iPad Air from Back Side

Howdy everyone!

I purchased my iPad Air (AT&T) from Craigslist with a broken digitizer/front glass panel, figuring that I could repair it for myself since I've repaired broken iPad digitizes many times, But this was my first time doing an Air.

The problem I'm having is just as the title says. After I sealed up the digitizer, everything works perfectly, except then I decided to buy a Smart Cover and now when I fold the Smart Cover back so that it lies flat against the backside of the iPad, it locks it!

This has become a serious nuisance for using it, and I'm trying to understand why it does it and how to fix it before I have to spend hours opening and re-sealing it again. I've seen on other posts that the circuitry installed on the home button cable is what allows the Smart Cover to lock and unlock the iPad. Is that true?

Could it be that the digitizer/front glass panel that I bought on eBay is faulty? Is that why it locks inappropriately? Could it simply be because it's a cheap Chinese replacement part?

Any ideas would be much appreciated! For now, I can use my iPad like normal, it's just irritating that my iPad locks when I fold back the Smart Cover. I'm so used to using the Smart Cover freely on my old iPad 2! :]

Thanks so much!

iPad Air LTE: Ipad Air 1 not turning on, and charger is reading 0>200>400 mA

I'm trying to fix an ipad air 1 that is not charging and no image on the display. Since it was not responding i tore it down up until i can access the battery in an attempt to restart the system by plugging and unplugging the battery.

After that the problem persist, no image on display , and no indication that is charging. I have a cheap USB current tester and it would seem that the charging current is jumping from 0 mA to around 200mA to around 400mA then go back to 0mA again (over and over),

Anyone can help me diagnose the problem?

UPDATE:

Its now charging i think but very slowly, meter is reading 5v at 500mA. I know that this brick and cable can do 5v 2A on my iphone. Also the red battery image now shows up on the display, disconnecting the cable shows the lightning image at bottom also. Will let it charge for a couple of hours...

iPad Air LTE: Correct positioning of the home button cable?

I am replacing my digitizer and I can’t seem to find any detailed guides or comments/questions for the reassembly of the screen, most importantly the correct way to place the home button cable. I know it’s tricky to maneuver the side cables in so they won’t get bent or crushed when laying the digitizer down, but the home button cable has me baffled! It doesn’t seem like it fits correctly when trying to close the screen. How in the world does it actually lay without getting crushed??

iPad Air LTE: iTunes error 4005 and nothing on the screen

I just got an iPad Air where I was told “It’s Just Fried”. It is possible that it was dropped but I was told that it randomly happened.

After a few minutes of playing with it, I was able to get it into DFU mode. As it stands, there is no video whatsoever coming to the screen and the only way it interacts with iTunes is in DFU mode. I tried doing a restore in iTunes and got the error 4005 which from Googling looks to be battery or charging port issue. Any ideas what the problem is here and is it even worth fixing?

iPad Air LTE: Volume/Rotation Lock problems after battery replacement

Hi. I replaced the battery on an iPad Air which I’ve done a few times with no issues. This time, after closing up the iPad the volume was changing by itself constantly as if the buttons were being pressed.

I checked all the connections and everything looked fine. I decided to replace the volume/Lock Screen flex and initially, everything worked fine. The issue then started happening again as soon as I sealed up the iPad. No cables were damaged during sealing, and no pressure was applied on the flex.

I disconnected the digitiser to see if that could be causing any issues, but unfortunately not.

Has anyone else had a similar issue, or have any idea as to what could be causing the problem? Thanks.

iPad Air LTE: Unit will not charge, even after battery replacement.

I tore down my A1475 and successfully replaced the battery this weekend. The original symptom was that the unit discharged rapidly, and would not take a charge (yes, I tried multiple chargers and cables, several OEM and non-OEM, and non would charge the unit. Never even recognized a cable).

The new battery had about 40% battery in it, and the unit powered up fine once I replaced it, but it STILL won't charge. So...what next? Should I spend the time trying to replace either the lightning port connector, or the battery plug (the small rectangle, connected to the logic board, that screws in to the battery)? Both require soldering, which is not my favorite past time. Or is it most likely a problem with the logic board itself? If that's the case I'm not going to bother.

I appreciate the help anyone can provide...thanks!
