iPad Air 3: The Nand on cellular iPad is dead. Is it doomed?

It is an iPad Air3 Cellular model.

After replacing the nand chip, the ipad works normally. However, since the existing nand chip is completely dead, there is no way to extract the serial, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth Mac addresses. (I tried the nand programmer, but I couldn't query any Mac addresses. The chip is completely dead.) Sadly, I don't even have a Mac address written down before, so there is no way to know it.

+For devices A12 and above, I understand that Mac Address is also stored in AP, and I was wondering if there is a way to extract it.

iPad Air 3: iPad Air 3 Home button stuck in pressed position after screen install

I have replaced a cracked screen on the iPad Air 3 and after screen install the home button is stuck in a pressed position, it wont click. So I go ahead and take the screen off and it clicks fine and works 100%, but the second I put it back down, it wont click anymore, I checked the alignment multiple times, I took off the home button and reinstalled it multiple times and every time I put the screen back down the button is automatically pressed down, what am I doing wrong? This was supposed to be an easy repair but got really complicated. Please help me out!

Update: I found this white ring around the home button hole, am I supposed to remove this because the old screen doesn’t seem to have it, I’m assuming that’s adhesive under the white ring?

Update 2: Wow that was the issue, I didn’t realize the white ring around the home button was an adhesive cover I was supposed to remove, it works fine now…..

iPad Air 3: Alternative way to disconnect the battery on iPad Air 3

Hi guys,

I have a question on the battery replacement guide for the iPad Air 3. At step 12 the battery is disconnected. Since I haven't done this before, I have a little respect and don't want to break anything.

On Youtube, I found a video, where an alternative way of disconnecting the battery is described (Link, Minute 4:24). The guy in the video puts an opening pick beside the connector and not directly between the contacts of the connector.
For the iPad Air 3 this would mean, that an opening pick is put on the right side of the connector along the logic board.

What are your opinions on this method? Is it recommended or should I do it with the battery blocker?

Thank you very much for your help!

Maginos

iPad Air 3: Liquid damage so screen doesn't work but everything else seems to work

So, I spilled coffee all over my iPad. After drying it out I tested it and it actually restarted to the home screen but the touch screen part of the display didn't work. I was able to see that bluetooth and wifi worked and so it seemed the damage was centered on the display. After shutting it down and restarting over the next day or two the device began an endless loop of restarting. That's when I decided to disassemble it. Currently I have the display off the device and deciding on my next move. I'd like to repair it but has questions.

How best do I test the device aside from the display to determine they are sound?

Does the restarting behavior I described above make this issue more severe?

Is the corrosion taking its toll on this and no worth to repair?

I'd appreciate any thoughts. Thanks,

iPad Air 3: Is there a TOGGLE SWITCH that can be used on an iPad AIR (3rd gen)?

I'm searching for a TOGGLE SWITCH that can be used on an iPad AIR (3rd generation) OR a CASE that includes a large toggle switch (an adaptation for an elderly person). Any suggestions? Thanks!

Update (08/28/2020)

I recently purchased an iPad Air third generation for my 89-year-old mother from the Apple Store.

She is learning how to use it. However, the volume switch which is located on the upper right outer edge of the iPad is not only very small but also very difficult for her to use. It has one small rectangular button for increasing the volume. And just below it, it has one very small rectangular button below it for decreasing the volume.

She not only has a hard time to find and see these two little buttons (that are no more than ½ inch in length each) but also to manipulate them with her old fingers.

I hope to find a toggle switch which could be attached / stuck over the volume buttons that could elongate those two volume buttons. If it elongates the up button, the button would give more space for her to press the INCREASE VOLUME part of the buttons, or give her more space to press the DECREASE VOLUME button.

Sadly, SIRI and placing the volume on the iPad Air’s front screen didn’t work for her.
