iPad 7 Wi-Fi: iPad 7 will not show any signs of life.

I was playing a mobile game recently when my iPad screen suddenly went dark blue, I left it for awhile but nothing changed. I tried force restarting it and the blue screen turned off fully but now it wont turn back on at all. I have tried charging it over night with a working charger. It wont even connect to a computer. Is there anything else I should try? (There is a possibility it tried to update because I had not updated it to iPad OS 16 yet.)

Hello, I have a customers A2197 Ipad that came in for a charge port replacement.

The person broke off a charge tip in the charging port and tried a bunch to fish it out. Maybe he could have shorted something?

# - I replaced the charging port but now the LCD has Backlight and NO Picture.
# - The ipad boots up now and you you can hear music from apps running.
# - I orderred a new LCD and that doesn't show picture either. Just backlight
# - Ive inspected for missing components (Fail)
# - I used ZXW the check the readings on the LCD connector and they all seem ok except one reading that should be 1.69 is 2.78

Would appreciate any help...
Kevin

Answer:

I knocked off a filter when i was removing the antenna wire.

But as you can see... it is somewhat of a design flaw.

They put the antenna clip very close to the image filter.
They glued the antenna clip in place so it cant knock off a filter on its own.
Getting the antenna off with the glue makes it easy to knock off a filter

Perhaps i would use some rubbing alcohol and some heat next time i try to remove this antenna

iPad 7 Wi-Fi: Black screen of death, LED powering up, but no display.

I have opened this iPad and tried swapping out the LED for a new one from eBay, but the same issue occurs where the machine powers up, digitizer works with voiceover mode on, but there is no display whatsoever shown.

I tried all the usual methods of reset, reboot, hard reset, recovery mode, but there is something wrong with the LED output.

Im assuming this is a circuitry issue, but don't know how to discern that from looking at the internals.

Can anyone tell if this is an issue that some soldering would fix? In other words, do you guys see a visual issue with the board? I don't have anything unplugged in these pictures to expose the pins, would that be necessary to tell if there is an issue?

Thank you!!!

I appreciate the attempt to identify my issue, but more importantly the info given to help me learn what I'm looking at and how to troubleshoot!!! Thank you

Apple wanted to replace it for $250 for same model, but since this one just crapped out, there was no way I was doing that.

Posting a couple more clearer pics. I have a multimeter and am going to look into how to test the diodes. I assume I'll start with the LED pins and see what I can report back with.

Presumably if this is a diode or board issue, this would still require advanced skills to actually fix, but ideally I could get a shop to fix it for cheap since I might identify the exact issue for them.

iPad 7 Wi-Fi: Part of the power flex cable tore off onto the main connector

So I was practicing with an old iPad I have and removing the power port flex cable from the main connector. I guess I was too impatient and part of the flex cable connector tore off and remains on the main connector. Botched it pretty badly. I don’t know how to remove it and am nervous to rip the pads underneath. There’s also some residue that is stuck on top of the main connector as well. Not sure whether to use more heat or what. Or if it’s just destroyed. I tried heating it a little and used flux and when I tried to clean it with IPA the cotton just got caught so there are strands everywhere. It a mess. Any suggestions? Thank you.

iPad 7 Wi-Fi: iPad Won't Charge

My iPad wont charge - it seems to recognise being connected, but makes no difference to battery level. (Just stays at 1-2%). I thought it would be the port, so I thoroughly cleaned it, but Apple store advised its the battery. How difficult is it to change? (And how likely is it they are right - can anyone advise? If not, and it is the USB port, is it possible to change that?)

iPad 7 Wi-Fi: Screen glitching after glass/digitizer replacement **URGENT**

Backstory, I'm no professional but have been fixing iPhone/iPod Screens since I was 8 years old. I've always been the go-to to fix iPhone screens but have only ever been self taught from iFixIt Guides.

Anyways - I have tried to repair only my 2nd iPad ever from a family member the other day with just the worst luck. Everything has gone wrong with this repair and I'm so stressed at this point, I can't afford to dump any money into this as I believe I messed this up on my own.

Firstly, I was only asked to replace the screen as it was cracked. Ok, easy enough. Worked on it the other day and finally after 4 hours, got it all back together and done. Went to put the screen on and didn't realize the frame was gashed and CRACKED THE NEW SCREEN.

Anywhom, I said whatever and bought a new one and went to go replace it.

ISSUE THAT I NEED HELP WITH BELOW

Did a function test with the old cracked screen and the newly cracked screen. All was working as should.

After installing the new screen(2nd new one) it is now found that the LCD screen is glitching.

It is that "Ghost Touch" and moves the screen around, types in random passwords ETC.

I thought maybe it was the LCD itself. Replaced that, did not fix issue.

I tried with old glass digitizer, this ghost touch glitching problem is still there. I know it's not the digitizer.

Even if my hands are off the LCD screen and it is ONLY the LCD screen plugged in, I'm getting this ghost touch issue.

Checked the board connectors and all pins seemed fine. From a visual inspection of the Micro PCB connections, all looked to have no issue. Do not have a microscope, as I'm NOT A PROFESSIONAL. This was only confirmed from a visual inspection.

I really appreciate the help and support, as I've been stressed and really losing it over this thing. Not really sure where else to go.

iPad 7 Wi-Fi: Missing TG0B causes kernel panic, plus fluctuating battery level

The problem began 2-3 weeks ago while the device was charging.

Reboots are not spaced evenly at 180s apart, which probably indicates the sensor is responsive at times and not at others? At the beginning of the issue, I could sometimes use it for 5-10 minutes without rebooting, and sometimes less. Charge level fluctuates around 10-20% on each reboot and just randomly when unlocked. The reboots got more frequent and regular over time. Last night it seemed the iPad was charging very slow.

I took it for repair today,

They replaced the battery and the issue persists.

I've read TG0B is an NTC thermistor in the battery.... what could be the next steps? Any possible issues in the measurement circuitry?

Can anyone tell me what this capacitor is for and if it is parallel to anything and needed?

iPad 7 Wi-Fi: New screen but may be faulty

My son cracked his screen on his iPad gen 7. and upon repairing the digitizer, I ripped the lcd wire 🤦‍♀️. I ordered a new lcd and digitizer, after installing I got a black screen with lines (pic below). I made sure connections were good and still same result. I do not have the digitizer sealed down yet as I was checking to make sure everything worked correctly, so I’m unable to use home button. I tried placing home button over the spot and holding home button and power to do a hard reset but couldn’t get it to respond. I tried volume up, down, and then power and still nothing. I’m hoping the battery dies and I can try again tomorrow, but the odds aren’t in my favor. Any idea what’s wrong? Is it faulty?
