iPad 5 Wi-Fi: iPad 5 Home button no longer clicking after screen repair

I have replaced the screen on an IPad 5, transferred the original home button from old screen to new, however no matter how much I try, I can’t get the button to click properly as it should. The Touch ID still works, the button just doesn’t click, have spent hours on it trying to realign to ensure the position is perfect but not getting anywhere! I’ve done with repair many times with other models and never had an issue so not sure if it’s just something with this model? Anyone have any ideas of what to do next? I noticed there was no black dot on the home button, not sure if there was one originally or not but I added one and that didn’t seem to help.

Any ideas/solutions would be greatly appreciated????

thank you

iPad 5 Wi-Fi: My iPad 5 Wi-Fi will not turn on.

Hello all, Similar to other questions but not quite all. My iPad 5th Gen Wi-Fi was working fine all weekend. Had good battery (say ~%50) and just went blank/turned off without notice. Could not turn on. Could not hard stop nor hard start. Tried the Home+Power restart. No joy. Has not turned on since. Took it to the Apple Store they could not connect to the iPad with their jumper~diagnostic plug in handheld. The store rep very kindly looked at me and said he couldn't get past the adapter plug or battery, in short, it was dead. Now it sits on my counter not working. I'd like to try and fix it if I could. Any ideas are appreciated. I am an electronics technician by trade but this one is too deep for me. I've got micro min repair credentials. If I knew where to start I could probably save it. Help me hive mind fixit people, you're my only hope.

iPad 5 Wi-Fi: Touch screen ghosting glitching

Hi

I am wondering if I can get some advice. I've replaced the LCD and digitizer. The touch id doesn't work and show unable to activate. So I put in the home button which came with device but it's like doing it own thing and clicking on things on screen and it doesn't work in the corners when I try to exit a page. Is this likely to be a faulty digitizer or the logic board. Hope I can get some advice. Hoping someone can help

iPad 5 Wi-Fi: Gets warm charging but doesn't switch on. Display dark, no reaction.

Hi!
My ipad 5 wifi A1822 does not react any more. It gets warm to the touch on the right side while charging. Not concerningly warm but impossible not to feel.

Letting it charge for a while does not change it. Still no reaction. Also when connected to power.

Tested the "volume up, down, power button"-sequence for a reset. No reaction.

Nothing happened to the pad. No drop, no water, no unnormal usage.

The battery was getting weak, but other than that it was a decent tablet.

iPad 5 Wi-Fi: 1 Can one remove display tape, 2 remove tape residu, 3 clean display

Hi all,

Three questions in one:

I need some advice. I’m at step 28 of this screen replacement guide where they say “Remove any tape obscuring the LCD screws”. Instead of just peeling back a small part, I wrongly removed the entire tape, all around the display (not the digitizer) 😬 I don’t know what got into me, but after spending several hours on removing the broken digitizer I got a little enthusiastic by the ease of this removal.

So my question is: Should I replace the tape? And if so with what? And why was it there anyway?

Another question: there’s a thick layer of the residue from the old digitizer tape on the frame. How to best remove it? Using IPA and a cotton swab takes ages and forces some glue down in the frame. But maybe it’s the only way?

Third question: how to best clean the display? There’s some sticky debris on it. My replacement digitizer will go over it so I have only one chance to clean it well.

Thanks!
