iPad 3 Wi-Fi: Can the new iPad use the iPad 2 Smart covers?

I just got an iPad 3 or "the New iPad" but I haven't gotten a case for it yet and I am considering buying a smart cover or a case with magnets that can use the same sleep/wake function as the smart cover.

Looking on Amazon, I saw that some had the same ability, but warn that the sleep/wake function is inaccessible on the iPad 3. As far as I know, it might be because the sensors were moved to a different location.

So, as the question above states, can I use a Smart Cover made for an iPad 2 on my iPad 3 and still get the all the functions including the sleep/wake ability?

OK, so I replaced the screen and now the screen won't turn on. When I connect the ipad to my computer I see that Itune it knowledge the iPad. Now, I did broke the lcd spacer(I think is what it calls) the clip that push down the screen LCD cable. Also, I lost one of the home button screw. So I cut a piece of the flat cable that I had from the old digitizer and I insert it on top of the connector to push the cable down as I saw that this work in other forum, but it does not.
iPad 3 Wi-Fi: Punctured battery while replacing, help

As I was replacing the battery on my iPad 3 I accidentally punctured the battery and I have now (as of the time I am posting this) gone two days ago without touching the battery and leaving it in a place where it won’t catch fire. Is there anything I can do to take out the battery safely? It is also important to not that I took out the logic board and I was planning on replacing the battery anyways. The battery did also smoke up the first time and when I tried removing it more it caught fire. If I go back will it explode or am I safe?

2- iPad is on (shows up on iTunes

3- Tried holding the power and home button for 7 seconds

4- Tried to put it in DFU mode

5- I unplugged the battery from mother board

6- I tried unplugging everything about 10 times now

7- Left iPad cables unplug about 45 minutes

iPad 3 Wi-Fi: Bottom of screen not working

I've changed the screen on my iPad 3 and put a tiny crack in the new one when doing so. If you take the screen out and flip it over, the crack runs through the tiny silver coloured lines running around the edge of the screen just above the home button. Is this why the bottom of my screen will not work now? Or do they have nothing to do with it? I've tried to clean out the terminals where the tape connects in but that hasn't done anything.

It's literally the bottom half inch that doesn't work.

All help is much appreciated

iPad 3 Wi-Fi: How to tell if glass is OEM.

Hello fellow fixers,

I have a new supplier now out of china that claims they sell OEM (Original Equipment Manufacture), or Apple parts. So the same parts that originally come on the device whether it be iPad, iPod, or iPhone.

I did a glass replacement on an iPad 3 for a customer. He came back not too much longer and had some issues with the glass peeling up just a bit...not a problem some more glue will hold it in. But while removing the glass to install better adhesive the glass cracked(&^$* $85 in the hole). This seemed to crack SUPER easy. Most the time when removing the OEM glass I can get it off with out cracking the glass with some safe pry tools, heat, and patience.

Also I have heard of the OEM glass water droplet test. Basically just a quarter size drop of water on the glass, and move it around. If it stays together and is easy to control its OEM, if not its a copy.

Here's my question: Are there any other ways to tell if the glass is OEM.

And, is the water droplet test legit and does it really work?

Thank you for the help

(sorry for the novel)

iPad 3 Wi-Fi: I used this iPad for a while but now it is on Lost Mode

Hello everyone. I have an old iPad 3 which I got a long time ago and have been using it ever since. However, it’s suddenly locked itself after reboot and now it is asking me for an email and password which I do not know (Also showing Activation Lock). I do not know the previous owner of the device and I have no contact with them. Now I want to use this iPad for educational purposes, however all I can do as of now is only booting it up. What should I do in order to use it again, please, it is a really frustrating situation. Someone told me that I should change the entire motherboard and someone else said there might be a way to bypass the verification page. What are your suggestions? Can I somehow fix it?

iPad 3 Wi-Fi: My iPad 3 Lcd does not work after I snapped it in half

Ok, ok, I know it seems like a stupid question, but hear me out. So I bought an iPad 3 with a shattered digitizer but otherwise good lcd off of eBay. It wasn't ic locked, yay! So I set away at repairing it. However, the digitizer was broken into many pieces, and when I went to lift the LCD out of the iPad, some pieces of still-stuck digitizer pressured it and it got a diagonal crack. At this point half of the LCD still worked. Later on I plugged the iPad back on and the LCD gave no signs of life. iTunes doesn't work because it has a passocde either. Should I just get a new LCD or is the problem something else entirely?

iPad 3 Wi-Fi: Recover iPad Pictures after Apple Factory Reset

Hello,

I have a 2 part question. After contacting Apple Support because my iPad was freezing they guided me to do an iCloud Back-Up and then delete my account to re-synced with the iCloud back up. Unfortunately the Apple agent did not verify our 'Manage iCloud storage' to see that out 'Camera Roll' Pictures were turned off. This deleted 4 years of very important pictures (to say the very least). I was transferred to an Apple Senior Supervisor, who admitted his agent's mistake and said that there was nothing they can do.

The Senior Supervisor tried to send us and 'iPod Nano' as compensation ($150.00) and said that we would have to try and find an Apple certified retailer to try and recuperate the lost data (pictures) on our own and AT OUR EXPENSE.

This is a nightmare and what Apple is offering is a joke. I searched the Internet for programs to recuperate the data to no avail.

1. Please advise if there is any way (software or other) to recuperate these deleted pictures (as they were not backup anywhere) as the only way would be via the hard-disk on the iPad.

2. Please also advise what course of action to take with Apple as what they are offering is a sub-standard brush off.

Thank you for your time and effort
