iPad 2 Wi-Fi EMC 2560: iPad will not charge unless it is tuned off

Disclamers: I use the larger original usb plug to charge (not a small iphone brick or my laptop). And a car adapter that is rated for iPad. There is no water damage. It was dropped a long time ago but has worked without problem before and since.

Today my iPad (2nd Gen) stopped charging when I plugged it in. Nor is it recognised by iTunes when I plug it into my macbook pro. Here are the steps I've taken.

1. Turned it off and on like this:

-"Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.

-Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears."

No help.

2. Then I reset it like this (multiple times):

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

No help.

3. Turned it off and plugged in the cord and it came on. Confirming that the cable is recognised by the device (hardware anyway). But when the lock screen appeared there was no lightening bolt in the battery confirming that it was not charging.

4. Plugged in and turned it off and left it for a while. When I turned it back on by holding the Sleep/Wake button I had 5% more charge than when I started. I did the same thing last night (all night) and got it up to an 80% charge.

5. This morning I did all of the above again with no luck so I went into Settings-> General-> Reset and "Reset All Settings" when it restarted it still did not show it was charging. So I did a reset again. No help.

6. I then went back and did an "Erase All Content and Settings." with the same result.

So now, for all my troubleshooting effort I have an iPad with no info on it and no way to sync it.

Can anyone see something else that I might try?

Also i just changed the charging port.

I can swipe up in the middle and upper part of the ipad. but i cannot swipe upward from the very bottom of the screen. I also did not seal the ipad securely so it is partially sealed and partially not sealed towards the bottom and the left side. Could that be the problem? If not what could be the cause of the issue.
iPad 2 Wi-Fi EMC 2560: Ipad 2 Wifi turns itself off after battery replacement

Hi, I recently did an Ipad 2 Wifi Digitizer and battery replacement. Initially it seemed everything was working fine, but after 2 or 3 minutes of being powered on it turns itself off. Initially I thought it might have a loose connection to the battery but that is definitely not the case, the board is screwed down ontop of the connector and it restarts just sitting by itself.

Has anyone else seen this before? I ordered a new battery in case this one is defective, can't test it with the original battery because it was damaged during the removal. I'm wondering if the OS forces it to shut off when the battery percentage increases or decreases. The battery does charge up and arrived at 28% and I charged it to around 33% while messing with it. Now I have it manually turned off and charging so it won't force restart itself while plugged in.

iPad 2 Wi-Fi EMC 2560: Digitizer connectors broken, solder pads on board damaged

When replacing the digitizer, the connectors came apart. I had a gentleman in Kentucky check it and he planned on placing jumper wires from the test points to the connectors.

The repair was only partly successful. Some of the wires are broken. I don't know if it was in shipping or what, and its irrelevant to me. I am an experienced Electronics repair technician but am a bit out of practice, especially with micro soldering.

I would like to give it a go, but I need a diagram showing which test points connect to which pins on the connectors.

I have the schematics, a good work bench, some dated but very functional equipment, and would love to try.

iPad 2 Wi-Fi EMC 2560: 2.4Ghz WiFi Hardware Problem

Hello,

Since fews days, I have big problems with my WiFi connection. My IPAD does not detect WiFi network, except if I'm at less than 50cm of the router.

It was working perfectly before (before what ? I don't know), and I have another IPAD that is perfectly working in the same context. So my conclusion is that the problem is coming from IPAD and not from my router.

So I tried, many software things to understand the problem:

- Reboot,

- Hard reboot

- Reset network settings,

- Reset everything,

- Upgrade IOS version,

- ...

Nothing worked. I tried with IOS 7.1.1, then IOS 9.0.2, then 9.1, I have always the same problem. So my conclusion is that it is linked to an hardware problem, rather than a software problem.

Then I configured my wifi routeur to use 5ghz network, and wonderful my IPAD was able to see the network. But if I'm going upstairs in my home, I see the Wifi network but I cannot go to Internet. I'm not sure it is really a problem it is probably linked to 5GHZ networks that are more sensitive to distance than 2.4Ghz.

So my Ipad does not see any 2.4GHz wifi network, except if there are very very close (few centimeters), and does see 5Ghz wifi network (even if it seems to have a distance problem, but I'm not sure).

Because I have no skills in hardware, I do not know which component could be broken. Is it possible that Wifi antenna is broken ? But if it was the case I suppose that I would not be able to see 5Ghz wifi network (I suppose it is the same antenna). Do you have any idea ??

Thank you in advance,

Bill

iPad 2 Wi-Fi EMC 2560: Why does a newly replaced digitizer loses ability to recognize touch?

Hello, I replaced the digitizer to a second iteration of the iPad 2 for a client, and after awhile it can loses the ability to pick up any touches. When I received it and opened it up and I went ahead to put in some extra screws to hold down the LCD screen. I figured that would help keep in place the ribbon cable to the digitizer, but no dice. I had him try a hard reset by holding the lock and home buttons simultaneously, but I get the same result. I'm going to get him to do a system restore through iTunes, but at this by point, I am running out of options. I am starting to think that it could be a faulty Logic Board. Any ideas would be more than welcomed.

Now the screen doesn't work. My computer recognizes it just fine. I checked both ends of the screen's cable to make sure they weren't damaged and that they were seated properly.
