None of the previous problems were fixed btw.

So we were instructed to restore the ipad to factory. Now we are getting the:

"Your iPad could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting your iPad to iTUnes to activate it, or try again in a couple of minutes.

iPad 2 CDMA: Transfer Data From Dead Logic Board?

Hi all,

This is my first question, so please bear with me as I figure this out.

I have a iPad 2 CDMA (64GB) that had the battery swell up and explode (no one was injured other then the iPad itself), and it killed the screen, case, and the logic board. I bought the same model on eBay to try and swap the parts, and after I tested individual components with the new ones, I know that the logic board is dead, although I did get a relevant current draw when the power button is pressed. .

Since I know the logic board is dead, I used the iPad 2 Teardown Guide to locate the NAND flash chips, and attempt to transfer them to the new logic board. The only issue is that I ripped a few PCB pads during the de-soldering process of the original chip on the new logic board.

Is it possible to fix the ripped traces, or do I need another new logic board? Also, is this idea to recover the data even feasible? Since I haven't touched the original logic board with the data yet, those chips are still soldered on, so I obviously need a few tips on removing those as well.

Thanks in advance.

iPad 2 CDMA: Replaced digitizer and antennas, still searching.

So another technician replaced the digitizer and destroyed the power flex and both the left and right antenna. He was fired (too many damages in 1 week) and now I'm stuck finishing this. He started replacing both antennas but didn't finish anything. I got both antennas in and it still says searching. The date and time are wrong, but I connected it to WiFi to fix that (I heard at some points that can cause "searching" problems) and still no service.

It seems like he disconnected this board from the rest of the logicboard to connect the antennas better. Its the flex that sits next to the head phone flex on the main board.

Any ideas? I don't want to have to buy a whole new iPad for this guy since I wasn't the one who broke it.

iPad 2 CDMA: Rainbow of garbled colors on screen after screen replacement?

Hey all - my daughter cracked the screen on her iPad2, so I gave screen replacement a try myself. Before I did, while the screen was cracked, the iPad other wise looked fine and the display was correct.

Seemed to all go well. I must admit I did touch the LCD with my hand a few times, and there were some tiny marks on it, perhaps form flakes of glass. I used the little rag that came with the repair kit to clean the LCD as best I could.

I buttoned everything back up (but didn't glue down the new glass yet. I fired it up - and the screen is 100% covered with garbled lines in a rainbow of colors. I couldn't reboot because you can't see anything on the screen. I held down both buttons, etc. But it just seems to restart and the issue is still there.

I've checked the connections 10 times. All is perfect.

Is there anything else I can try? Is there a cable or anything I might try to replace before buying a new LCD?

iPad 2 CDMA: Replaced front panel, now part of screen doesn't respond to touch?

I replaced the "front panel" of my iPad 2 because one of my kids stepped on it and cracked it. The iPad worked fine for many months with the broken screen, I just replaced it for safety more than anything (before one of the kids got a splinter of glass in the fingers!)

Anyway, I bought a front panel replacement kit from ifixit, removed the broken panel in 3 billion pieces, cleaned off the old adhesive and stuck the new front panel on. The new panel already had the home button and adhesive installed.

Fired up the iPad and the screen looked amazing! Brand new! But I quickly noticed something was wrong. At first I thought it was freezing, but then I realized its just a very specific part of the screen that doesn't respond. It's basically the bottom portion of the screen, when the keyboard is up, the "7" and "U" and myabe "J" don't respond to touch. I imagine any touch in this area isn't detected, its just when the keyboard is up I can really notice where exactly it is.

Other than that, the iPad works flawlessly. Is there any reason when that specific portion of the screen would not work? And is there a fix? I've already tried "erasing all content and resetting" but there was no improvement.

iPad 2 CDMA: Cracked screen fixed but now colors are wacked. Logic board bad?

I had a cracked screen in my iPad2 3g. Worked OK except for the screen. Felt like the repair would be too much for me so I took it to a repair shop that advertised fixes. They replaced the screen in about 90 minutes but now the display is all red. They said they tried a couple of different screens but they all ended up with the color issue, and diagnosed the problem as a logic board issue. Sound right?

iPad 2 CDMA: iPad2 cord was ripped out = no charge/no home button

New here. Hello everyone.

My iPad2 was knocked off of a counter while it was plugged into a the charging cord. Neither the charging port nor the home button work any more. Based on what I've read, I assume the charging port was moved or damaged and that the home button may be damaged or may not be working due to the charging port.

Can anyone we experience repairing iPad2s advise on which repair part(s) to buy? Does this type of accident usually take out both the charging port and the home button? Is it likely they have just moved of the contact points? I know that no one can know until they open it, but I am curious if its usually just one part that gets damaged in this type of accident.

I'm ordering a tool set and a the adhesive strips. Trying to determine if I should wait on parts, get the charging port, home button, or both without spending on shipping twice.

Thanks in advance.

iPad 2 CDMA: Why wont my Ipad hold a charge for more than 8 hours?

The Ipad was dropped on the bottom left corner and spider-ed the screen. Also the aluminum backing was damaged and needed to be bent out a little on the corner to help the new glass fix. When I had the screen replaced, everything works perfect except that the battery will not hold a charge more than 8 hours while not being used. When being used, it will last only about 4 hours. I returned it to the person who fixed it and he said everything was "normal".
