iPad 2 Wi-Fi EMC 2415: Apple Ipad no power, No charging. Help with battery bypass.

My IPAD suddenly decided to die one day.

I thought it was software. When I tried to hard reset it nothing, When tried with different combos of holding power button and home button and everything, nothing. Next up tried plugging into PC, Nothing. Left on charging for about a day,, Nothing. I had a 30 pin to vga adapter. Tried that to thinking it was dead screen, still nothing. Not even detected.

So I knew iPad was saying- open me which I did not want to, because I would break it. With a lot of patience heating etc I opened it but unfortunately on the last side I needed to open, I broke it but it did not matter.

Now after opening it firstly I cleaned all connectors and dried them and left for a day. Still no power. Next up I suspected the battery. Hence I tried to open it with a screw driver I had but screw driver unfortunately broke from tip. So next up I peel the tape on the left side of batteries to find 6 terminals, 2 on each battery, 3 batteries in total.

I power the center battery up by a 3.7 volt adapter and leave it for about 1 hour and to my surprise the iPad now shows the battery with 3 Red lines and charging cord on bottom.

I thought that it needed more charge so charged it for another 3 hours but still the same thing- Dead battery icon. I think either the battery hass died or controller board on battery has died.

Now I don’t want to spend any money and instead remove the battery and provide 3.7 volt (or whatever voltage) directly to the logic board. Can you tell me the location of where the battery goes to so I can try and give it voltage there.

I want to buy a new screw driver set for iPad repairs but covid restrictions are put on and I need that iPad.

Regards.

iPad 2 GSM: IPad 2 home button won't make contact to unlock screen.

I'm replacing a digitizer on an iPad 2 for someone. I've fixed this same iPad before. Everything went fine until I got the new digitizer installed and realize the home button isn't working. It seems like a physical button placement issue. I jumped the contacts on the logic board and the screen came up and I seem to have continuity between the contact pads on the home button itself. Could the manufacturer have just glued the contacts too high on the digitizer? Any ideas?

iPad 2: Replaced Digitizer, battery charges to 35%, turns off if unplugged

I recently replaced my digitizer, power button cable and wireless antenna on my iPad2 (Let’s just say removing the cracked screen did not go as perfectly as I had hoped). I connected the charger to turn on the device before taping the screen (battery was dead and I wanted to test the wifi and other buttons before sealing). The iPad will only turn on if I hold even pressure on the screen. Once it is on, it works beautifully. However, the battery only charges to 35% and the device immediately turns off once unplugged from the charger. Thoughts? This is my first attempt at any sort of repair, so I am not an expert. Keep that in mind when answering. Thanks

iPad 2: upper component board cable connector replacement?

I shattered the screen on my Ipad 2 (which was otherwise working great!). In conducting the screen replacement of course I tore the flex cable. Ok. Ordered a new cable, tossed the old screen. replaced the flex cable. Whoops, the bottom tab of the flex cable (below the volume buttons has no where to get plugged it. Upon further inspection it looks like maybe I accidentally tossed out the upper component board cable connector (maybe it was stuck to the screen?) Hopefully I didn’t damage the motherboard, but the question are: 1. Anyone know where i can find a replacement and 2. can it be replaced? I can’t find anything online. For more info see

iPad 2 GSM: NO SIM after changing digitizer and SIM reader

I broke the glass of my iPad 2 some days ago and went on changing the digitizer. After connecting the new ditizer before closing everything up I tried if the iPad still works correctly. So far everything went great, Wi-Fi still worked though I didn't change the antenna, touchscreen worked and after some attempts the home button did, too. Then I noticed the iPad showing "NO SIM" in the upper left corner, allthough I put my SIM card in. I tried the SIM card from my phone (which I know is working) but without success. So I ordered and replaced the SIM reader + the headphone Jack, but that didn't help either.

To be honest, I'm not sure if the SIM stopped working after dropping the iPad or after replacing the glass.

So my question is, could it be that the problem is that I damaged the 3G Antenna while removing the old digitizer? I'm not sure about that, because I thought if I broke the antenna it just wouldn't find any signal, but would read the SIM card. This is why I suspected the SIM reader, but I replaced it with a new one and still NO SIM, though the headphone jack is working (so it is connected correctly).

tl;dr:

After replacing the digitizer and SIM reader I still get the NO SIM error. Could this be because the 3G antennas were damaged while removing the old glass?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

iPad 2: replaced the screen, but have found it will not charge

@oldturkey03 are you still active here? Appreciate this is a really old post, but I have a similar question, although nothing to do with water. A friend asked me to look at an iPad 2, which had a cracked screen and was left in a drawer for months (perhaps even years!). I replaced the screen, but have found it will not charge. I have been through DFU, but iTunes just reports an error stating that the device cannot be restored. My understanding is that the OS is blocking the battery charge, perhaps due to the device not having a clean power down. Instead of buying a new battery, I was hoping to strip down a USB cable and directly attach wires to the connectors that @mark has referenced, ie completely missing out the iPad circuitry. Is that feasible?

(I'm guessing this may be a daft idea, as perhaps there are resistors in the path from the charging port to the battery ...but I am hoping that the charging power direct to the battery is the same a the power adapter/plug & cable)

iPad 2: Purpose of tape/plastic tab on dock connector

Hi guys, straight forward question.

I was trying to fix a friends ipad which was displaying issues with the colours namely green/pink waves everywhere.

I took it apart hoping it was a lcd or connection problem, everything worked fine so i think its the onboard graphics or motherboard at fault.

But while i was looking i found the black tape on the dock connector was removed (where the dock connector meets the digitiser connector), i opened up a broken iPad i had lying around and noticed the small precut black tape is also connected to a small plastic see-thru chip.

So my question is does the pre-cut black tape and more importantly the small plastic see-thru chip play any importance to the device at all? namely the plastic chip (i think the plastic chip is taped to the inside of the cases rim or somthing.

iPad 2 GSM: Shutting down when rotated

Greetings!

I have a problematic iPad 2 - the device:

Cant always be switched on

If switched on it never shuts down by itself

When switched on if a physical action is applied (rotate, turn over etc) may shut down

I obviously suspect some connector failure - disconnecting / short circuit.

I disassembled the device and tried tweakng LCD connector - had limited success - if I switch the device on then tweak the connector - the device shuts down, so it could be the reason.

But right now (after may manipulatons?) the device works well...

What Im gonna do is replacing the LCD cable, but its just guessing...

Please tell what it could be (if there is some typical reason) or / and advise how to diagnose...

Thanks!
