FixHub Portable Power Station: Solder Station Fixhub Kit

Hi I see there is a whole Soldering kit now. I have already previously purchased the soldering iron and battery station, but would like the full kit.

I see the other items are being sold as a standalone product but when are they expected to be in stock?

Portable Soldering Toolkit Without FixHub

Does it make more sense to buy the whole kit and resell the duplicate iron and battery?

FixHub Smart Soldering Iron: Suddenly stopped turning on

I have been using the soldering iron today, set it down for 1h, came back... and now it won't light up when plugged in. The web interface does not find it. I don't get an USB device plugged in sound (should it even do that?).

Any ideas on how to narrow down the error?

It is about 2 years old. I used it maybe 20 times since then.
I tried multiple power supplies but nothing seems to help.

Does anyone have any more trouble shooting tipps?

FixHub Portable Power Station: My Station is not charging anywhere near 2.25A at 20V

My Power Bank is not charging near it's 45W max through the rear port at 20V with any of my 65W power adapters.

This is not due to my chargers or cables as I have tried a variety of adapter cable combinations that all work with my other 65W+ USB C devices (laptops, etc.)

All of these chargers only delivered 10W when they support higher wattages on other devices:

Dell 65W (supports 20V 3.25A) --> only 10W

Chromebook 60W (supports 20V 3A) --> only 10W

ASUS ROG ALLY 65W (supports 20V 3.25A) --> only 10W

RavPower 61W PD charger with 100W cable (supports 20V 3A) --> only 10W

Interestingly:

30W Anker PowerPort Atom III Slim with 100W USB C cable was able to deliver 27W at 20V.

Insignia Nintendo Switch power adapter which only goes up to 15V was able to deliver 32W at 15V.

UGREEN Nexode mini 30W delivered 27W at 20V.

This is a strange pattern. The lower wattage adapters are able to charge at their max,

but my higher wattage chargers are being limited to about 10W.

I tested these while the battery was at about 25%

I have already updated to firmware 1.5.0

FixHub Smart Soldering Iron: Options for heatset inserts

Hi everyone,

I've recently started using heat-set inserts in some of my 3D print designs, but I've run into a small issue — the only soldering iron I own is the iFixit one, and unfortunately, it doesn’t currently offer a tip designed for heat-set inserts.

Has anyone had any success using any of the four standard tips for this purpose? Or is a dedicated soldering iron with a compatible insert tip the only real option?

Would love to hear your experiences or any creative workarounds you've found!

FixHub Portable Power Station: Action (power) button not working; Power station works when plugged in

I have an issue with the power station that had worked previously (albeit not out of the box - it required the firmware fix to charge properly) and still works when plugged in to power:

the blue action/power button stopped working (doesn’t click, pressing it does not power on).

I’ve followed the instructions for disassembly up to removal of the front cover to diagnose the issue and the button on the UI board itself seems to be the most likely culprit (“mushy”, doesn’t click). Tried gently moving it and pulling on it with tweezers a bit thinking it might dislodge it somehow but to no avail.

The fixhub is basically new, I’ve got it as a gift as part of the soldering toolkit and used it twice, so paying for a replacement UI board for repair seems unjustified.

I’ve reported the issue to customer service but I wonder whether there is anything else I could try (perhaps some magic fix I’m missing being new to this) in the meantime, while waiting for a response. Thanks in advance.

FixHub Portable Soldering Station: Future heat set insert tip(s)?

Have you guys thought about providing a tip to be used with heat set inserts? Preferably one that would allow you to change the tip to match the size of the insert?

Example: Heat Set Insert Tip

FixHub Portable Power Station: Station Error, Update firmware

While using my Fixhub I received the error: “ Station Error, update firmware”. I proceeded to connect my station to my laptop and managed to update it to 1.4.3, however the error persists and the station appears to be boot looping.

FixHub Portable Power Station: FixHub completely dead after being left unused for about 5 months?

Hi,

after having not used the FixHub for about 5 months (put it into my drawer with about 70% charge), i wanted to solder something - and to my surprise the unit was completely dead (in my living room, so not cold/unheated).

I could revive it by charging it with a USB-A to USB-C cable - but that was a shock :(

So, i guess, my question is:

Is this expected? Is there some kind of "vampire drain" that empties the battery slowly but steadily?

No offense, but the whole product is a bit of a letdown - one of my tips i ordered regularly disconnects when i exert the slightest pressure, the other doesn't - everything is acting slightly more erratic than i would like it to (especially a) at this price point, b) this being an iFixit product) and if i now have to take special care of the FixHub once in a while... don't know, i just don't need another Tamagotchi i need to tend to at this point in life vs. something i can just put in a drawer, forget about it and be able to use it whenever i pull it out. Sorry for the rant.

FixHub Portable Soldering Station: My FixHub does not turn on reliably

I have had my FixHub for a couple of weeks, trying to get through its issues. When it works, I am thrilled to have it. But when it doesn't, it's very frustrating. My FixHub was basically hopeless at first. Very erratic and random repeatability of many problems. Then I updated from FW 1.0.3 to 1.1.2. Seems better and most of the random issues are gone.

But one remains. The unit does not turn on reliably. Sometimes it turns on as it should with a 3 sec push of the blue button. Most of the time it does not.

Sometimes the introductory splash screen will start, then stop and go away.

Sometimes repeating the attempt a few more times, it may eventually come on.

Sometimes pushing the blue and silver buttons for ten seconds to reset, then it will power up, but not always.

Sometimes nothing I do will bring it alive, so I just walk away, only to have it work the next day.

This behavior seems to be independent of room temperature (55-70F) and battery status (40-100%).

The FixHub is a very cool concept and I want to love it, but I can't until it works reliably. I was hoping to be able to use it for remote repairs, but the last thing I need is to be on a mountain top in the field and not have the FixHub perform.

I have tried all the advice I can find on your website, but no joy yet. Help please! Thanks!
