iBook G4: My iBook screen is white.

Here's what happened. I was booting my iBook back up one time, and lines.

Now it's just a blank screen. I have tried everything, from removing the ram, to resetting the pram. Nothing worked. My iBook still gets in the os, so the screen may be it? Thank you for your help.

iBook G4 14" 1.42 GHz: Why is my screen white?

My iBook G4 is very old and has not been used in about 10-15 years. It powers up, chimes, noise can be heard from the volume buttons and the caps lock light works. However it displays only a white/grey color across the whole screen which seems to be the only problem. I have read that this can happen when the LVDS (video) cable is disconnected from the LCD panel and if anyone would recommend trying to re-plug it back in. Thanks

iBook G4 12" 1.33 GHz: Stuck on start up

I bought a used iBook (PowerPC G4 1.33ghz 12 "), when I try to turn it on the Apple logo comes out (it has white stripes) and it gets stuck in the loading in a blue screen. I tried all the key combinations but it doesn't work, only safe mode works. I tried to repair the disk permissions in Disk Utility (not in recovery mode), I also tried to use the Apple Hardware Test disk but it remains stuck in the frame. I tried to remove the additional ram and the keyboard but nothing. Maybe it's the GPU?

iBook G4 14" 933 MHz-1.33 GHz: problems after new HD install!

Hi,

My dads iBook G4 is 5 years old and the problem was that in a period of 1 month some of the programs didn't work anymore and towards the end it got realy bad and sometimes the ibook wouldn't start anymore.

Someone told me it was the HD that was broken so I replaced it with the guide from ifixit, it whent great and everything worked again but after about 1 or 2 hours after I finished the ibook got stuck again , but in a different way, one moment everything works and the other moment it gets stuck for a reason I can't figure out..

the laptop stays on but the rainbow wheel keeps runing and eventualy I have to turn the laptop off with the powerbutton.

Afterwards it mostely needs a few times of triyng to restart becose almost every time when I restart, a grey screen shows and stays like that.

But when it turns on the right way, everything works fine for a little while.

Any thoughts on what the problem could be?

The only thing I found that could maybe be the problem is; a bad running fan or something I damaged when I replaced the HD, but I was realy carefull and followed the exact steps from the guide..

Thanks!

iBook G4 12" 1.33 GHz: HDD not working as it should

Hello, first, sorry for my english, but I'm french... and don't speack it very well. I will try to explain my problems.

I just bought 2 ibook G4 (12inchs 512 Mo 1.33 GHz HDD 60 GO OS 10.4.11) , same model, and no one is working.

The first one (OS 10.4.11) is staring one time on twenty, and when not, the HDD is not recognised. I've tried to use Apple hardware test, but when the HDD is working, it' no pb at all, and when not, the hardware test does not see any HDD... logic.

I've tried to use fsck -fy, and it's no problem. One more thing I've note : when it starts, I can restart it all the time, but when I shut it down, I cannot start again. I've tried all the differents things I've find : "shift" when starting, "alt-cmd-P-R"...etc, but nothing works.

What do you think about ?

The second one (OS 10.4.?)has a likely, but not similar pb : when it's strating, I can see the apple, and the "cercle" is running, and then a blue screen arrived, becoming gray, green, red, yellow, black, and again... nothing else. It did started one time, with the hardware test CD, and it was frozen, without possibility to move the mouse.

I did tried to install a new time OS 10, but I cannot start with the CD. And even if it was possible to start one time, I cannot run the hardwar test CD. What's wrong, doctor ???

Thanks to help me to resolve my problems... or not !!!

iBook G4 14" 1.42 GHz: Help with gifted iBook G4

Grandson was given a non-working iBook G4 in hopes I could get it working for him.

Never used MAC before.

After start up I get message that the clock date is wrong. OK, probably fixable - then -

"The Windows item could not be opened because the PC configuration could not be found"

None of the OS on the Virtual PC List worked. Tried the import option, but fail!

Rebooted using Command+s

This prompt comes up: Localhost:/ root#

I tried, from advice off this forum: Type "-uw/" and press "Enter." This will allow you to make changes to the hard drive.

It counters with:

-sh: -uw:/: No such file or directory, then returns to original prompt.

Not anywhere near a computer pro, but usually able to figure these things out. Hope you can help - he'd sure be a happy camper!
