Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S: Front camera not working after screen replacement

Hi. I replaced my Mix 2S cracked screen with a replacement off ebay. The replacement went without a hitch, managed to replace it without breaking anything else or losing anything.

Some time later I realised that the front camera wasn’t working. Figuring I had a loose connection I took it apart again and reseated the camera flex and retried but still i would not work.

I ordered a new camera flex and when it arrived I replaced it and still the issue was the same.

When I open the camera app and press the icon to switch to the front camera it just switches between the two rear cameras which both work perfectly.

There are no errors or anything I can find. Do you have any idea what the problem could be?

I have sent the replacement screen back to see if a new one will make any difference. In the mean time I figured I’d ask on here.

Thanks in advance.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S: How to remove the plastic tab behind a new screen?

I’m trying to replace the screen on my mi mix 2s and there’s this little blue plastic tab towards the bottom:

Old screen on the left, new one on the right. The tab i’m referring to is that blue thing at the bottom right.

I’m assuming i’m supposed to remove it, but I tried pulling but it doesn’t seem like it’ll come out without me pulling off the whole grey part on top of it. Any suggestions?

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S: Damage Assessment and Advice on Replacement

I, unfortunately, dropped my Xiaomi Mi Mix 2s. Though I had a screen protector and a durable case, it hit at the right spot and annihilated a piece of the side. It broke the screen and the LCD as it pooled. However, a sizeable chunk is gone and I do not know if I need to just replace the screen and LCD or if the whole frame is too far gone as well. The good news is that the battery works but I am nervous about taking apart my phone as I am afraid of buying parts for a phone that may be ruined. Should I spend the time trying to replace the phone (and if so what kits should I look at?), or should I invest in another phone (which would have to be a less expensive one)? Let me know what you all think.
