Xiaomi Mi 8: No GPS after screen replacement

So after I replaced the display on my MI 8, the GPS is not working at all, everything else is fine (wifi and bluetooth as well). The new display came with the frame/housing as well, so I had to move the mainboard and all to the new one.

One thing is interesting is that it looks the new frame is missing a few contact points. could this be the problem? How can it be solved?

Photo:

btw, just to be sure, I moved back to the original frame + connected the new display, and this way the GPS is working fine. One solution would be to just take off the working LCD and apply to the original frame, but I’m afraid I’d broke the display while taking off…

Thank you

Xiaomi Mi 8: Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite - can't turn on and no reaction

Hello there!

Client brought a broken Xiaomi device few days ago telling that it got stuck during alarm clock. Somehow he turned it off and never turned on again.I’ve disassembled the device, removed the battery and replaced it with “hot power supply” at 4.1V. After pressing the power button the device starts to drain >200mA of current to immediately drop to ~90mA. No vibration occur, no backlight, no image on screen. I’ve checked for water damage, physical damage and measured capacitors (those, which were able to reach due to the permanent shield mounting), and everything seems fine.

Has anyone got any suggestion what should I do next? Or it’s just now meant to be a brick-phone?

Edit: Screen seems to be fine. No cracks and no leaks.

Xiaomi Mi 8: Faulty screen (Green vertical lines - faulty spots)

Hi Guys.

I’ve dropped my phone in multiple occasions lately, and i noticed some green vertical lines on the right edge of my screen (1-2 pixel thick).

I could make them disappear by just fidgeting a bit with the bottom-right corner of the screen, and they would eventually reappear as some pressure is applied in that place.

The problem is that “the thing evolved” in a way that now, applying a medium-strong pressure in the bottom-right corner of the screen, makes it completely power off (let’s say you’re registering a voice not on whatsapp/telegram, if you apply too much pressure the screen turns off and the voice note gets stopped) and it powers on again when i stop pressing on it.

With these issues, i think i should just need to swap my screen,

BUT, i found out that the bottom-right corner screen adhesive doesn’t stick anymore, this lets me to stick something very thin in it almost as if i was starting to remove the whole screen. In this position, with the screen slightly out of the case, there is no green line, nor the screen powers of if I apply pressure.

I’m too afraid to remove the screen and test further since i don’t have the adhesive to put the screen back, and i’d like to teardown the phone just in case of a screen swap (and also a battery) since i’m not to experienced and wouldn’t like to open and close it multiple times.

Do you think that the clue of the raised screen can be of any help, or should i just swap it once and for all?
