Xbox One Stereo Headset: How about a repair of the wire connecting to the 3.5mm adapter?

My headset works as intended except for the fact that the connection from the wire itself to the adapter has a faulty connection. I have removed the adapter from the wire and noticed there are 4 wires. I am assuming input, output, positive, and negative, but the wires seem to have a cloth core. My experience with wire like this is nonexistent and before I wittle it down to nothing I would appreciate an experienced opinion.
