X9000H: Why after a courier ship and sitting for a week still packed

Worked fine before neice turned it on a blue screen and a band on left vertical and thin line on right then turned off. Tried later blue screen light and darker blue vertical cloudy pattern Then later a clear picture with some wiggly vertical lines on right. Then it cleared up a bit good picture then back to picture with lots thin wiggly looking lines on the right. Very temperamental picture why? She managed a factory reset early on.
