Weed Whacker: Why does my Echo SRM-225 gas trimmer stall or bog down?

My ECHO SRM-225 starts on cold setting but dies out soon after, sometimes one to three minutes, sometimes just a few seconds. Throttling always makes it bog down and stop. I recently replaced fuel line and filter (Echo 90097 kit) and still, no better. I have been using TRuFuel 50:1 with no problems for months until now. I checked the plug, not dirty at all. I just checked the spark arrestor screen, and it was clean. The one thing I do notice is an accumulation of grease/oil near the exhaust.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Weed Whacker: Why is the end of the shaft, and the oil, overheating?

After running the weed whacker for a few minutes the end of the shaft becomes so hot that it will melt the cutting head, you can also hear the oil boiling when you turn the engine off.

Echo SRM-225 Trimmer: Echo Trimmer Won't start

I have an Echo SRM 225 Trimmer. Full disclosure I left the fuel in it all winter. When I started the season it would start then quit, but re-start at a later point. At some point it just stopped starting. I took the following steps:

*Emptied the gas tank and put clean fuel in

*Cleaned the Carb with Carb Cleaning Fluid

*Replaced the air filter and spark plug

*Replaced the fuel line system

*Finally replaced the carb

It still won't start. Any idea of what else could be wrong?

Before flooding condition. Engine would only idle when giving gas would stall. Removed carb and cleaned reinstalled carb now engine runs will Rev up but keeps flooding out, getting to much fuel now. Would like to see a diagram of carb. Apart

Hello, recently I went to repair an old Solo trimmer, it has been sitting for some time and wasnt fully drained of gas. When started it only runs on choke, you can rev it up. I have cleaned the carburetor and tried messing with the mixture screws. I have noticed that the gasket that connects the small block after the carburetor to the engine is a bit torn, could this be the source of my problem? and what are the other causes?

Weed Whacker: Recoil starter is a tangled up mess?

I was out weed whacking with our wee whacker when I accidentally stalled it (really thick grass). When I went to restart it, it shook really bad for a few seconds but straightened out and kept running with no problems. When I finished i went to put it away and noticed that the string for the recoil starter had come off the little groove that it usually sits in and wrapped around the shaft. Echo SRM-225 Trimmer: Why does the head spin off when I push the trigger

Everything running perfectly, but now after I fed the lines in as described for replacement, I push the trigger, the head spins and then falls off into 2 pieces. The metal cap (see below that this may be an adapter) that the head screws up to and the head itself.

I screw the head back on ok after I put the cap up first, but it keeps happening.

No idea. Machine has less than 2 hours run time since last 2 years when I bought it.

This area is on the page R diagram. Only thing I can think of is Part 13, the plate adapter on diagram Page K is what is falling off, maybe it is broken due to pounding to get string to run our new length.

This unit had been very unresponsive to touching the head to get new line to fish out.

How can you ck if it has vacuum? I put a new carb on it and the fuel bulb is full but no fuel in cylinder. Has 110 compression.

Echo SRM-225 Trimmer: It will only run at half throttle

I bought a new carb and tune-up kit and replaced the old ones. I pulled the gas tank to check for any leaks. I replaced the gas cap. It starts right up and revs up to speed only to half throttle, anything past half throttle it bogs down dies. After I let it run for a bit and shut it down the hose that has the breather end leaks gas all over the place. Any ideas.

I used a gasoline powered weed whacker today fir my first time. At one point the engine started revving like crazy by itself and letting go of the throttle didn't slow it down so I flipped the kill switch. Now I can't start the weed whacker anymore. Being new to weed whackers, I dont know what to do.

A mistake I may have made is I didnt switch off the choke switch after the engine had started. I tried switching it off once and the engine stopped, so I just left if on this time.

What might the issue be here and how would I diagnose and fix it?
