I have no idea why it won’t pull gas. It was running one day and then it shut off one day and never again after. I changed the plug, all filters, lines, gaskets, and bought 2 different carbs, and it still won’t pull gas. I saw it splatter out “once” (with old pump), and never again. It wants to run when I spray engine start-up fuel into it, but it won’t feed itself. The exhaust is clean, so it is not that, unless I missed something. But it’s just not “pulling” fuel in for some basic reason, where I am just too noobish to figure it out. I tried fresh new fuel with and without mix, not a chance. I don’t know engines parts well, but I am a little mechanically inclined. I did a compression test, and after ~3 pulls, it hits full compression. 120? Iirc, bcuz it’s been a minute since messing with it.

I got this response below from another person in another thread. But I don’t understand some of it. Like specific part(s) or location of it on the engine to exam, sadly I’m just ignorant. If anyone can post pictures explaining the below, I would be eternally grateful. But I feel like the post below is what I am missing. The weed eater wasn’t stored. I used it every weekend. And living in Florida, that is most of the year. I just can’t understand what cut it off out of no where, and caused it to stay off.

The roller bearing behind the small drive gear seized up and broke. I need to remove the gear in order to install a new bearing. Afraid too much heat will ruin the large plastic gear. Anyone have any suggestions or experience with this?

Hi Ifixit community, I have a partially disassembled (no fuel lines or fuel filter) Craftsman 316.791880 string trimmer. I am looking to install new lines and a new filter but not sure of the routing of the lines and why there are 2 holes in the bottom of the fuel tank. Is anyone familiar with this model and the fuel system?

Okay so here’s what I’ve done.

Compression 110
Muffler and screen cleaned inside the muffler to the cylinder. Carbon free now
Installed a new carb fuel filter
Installed a new spark plug
Adjusted the screw under primer bulb worked with all adjustments to flow were the same unless I closed it up then it died no pulling needed. As I said when you open it up it sounds and performs the same idles good throttle up head spins for a second bogs down stops

I can not figure this out it takes 5 pulls to achieve 110 compression. Is my motor burned up or what? It’s starts will stay running sounds good

I have a Stihl Strimmer (UK for weed whacker). Tried to fire it up, turned the choke shutter to cold start/ full choke and it springs back into the hot start/ no choke position. Any advice?

Weed Whacker: Gas Weed Eater only runs for 20 minutes a day

I have a 4-cycle Ryobi weed eater that, starting this season, will only run for 20-30 minutes. It starts great with 1-2 pulls and runs perfectly at any throttle, but it gradually stops working at higher throttles. What I mean is that it will run fine at 3/4 throttle but going beyond that kills the engine, over time that max goes to half and then 1/4 and eventually it will only idle and then dies completely. Letting it sit for an hour does not fix the problem, but leaving it overnight will restart the cycle of getting 20-30 of use out of it.

The unit is about 6 years old, but I had a lawn service most of that time, so it has only gotten about 1 or 2 seasons worth of use. I have done regular oil changes but no other maintenance.

Part 59 (i think it covers a bearing wheel?) Has dropped and wont stay in place. The trimmer spins sluggish and stops with any resistance. Can I fix this?

I am not sure how to ask this. I had a Maxicut Head attachment on it and it was running fine. one of the blades came off and then the head spun freely. I tried to put a new Maxi-cut Head attachment on and the end spins both directions and I can't put the new head on. I checked the drive shaft and it seems fine, what am I missing.
