Vtech Landline Phone: Cannot hear answering system or callers leaving message

Hi everyone, we’ve got a Vtech model CS6929-4. There is only one way to set up the answering machine, with an on or off button which is fine. The problem is when we get calls we cannot hear the answering system turn on and speak nor can we hear the caller leaving a message, the phone remains silent during the whole process, we just get notification that there’s a new message on the system when its done. How can we hear messages live when their incoming? There seems to be one option, to press speaker on the phone while someone records. We used to be able to just hear everyone without a problem. Any help is appreciated.

Vtech Landline Phone: How to disassemble LS6191/LS6195 base unit of the VTech retro phone

Found 3 screws on bottom of base unit. Even after removing these, I am not able to open the base unit in order to fix the LCD display that is missing some of the lines. Does anyone know how to open the base unit? Is there a service or repair guide/manual available that shows teardown?

Update: There are two other screws underneath the rubber feet in the front. Removed these. The case must have tabs keeping the two halves held together. I started opening on one side but I did not want to break anything so stopped.

Vtech Landline Phone: out of range or no power at base

Hi,

My VTech cordless phone at work has been acting up. The phone is fully charged and will work most of the time. Sometimes I'll dial a number, it'll ring, and it randomly shuts off. The screen will be blank for a couple seconds as if the battery has died. When it turns back on the display shows "out of range or no power at base". I am literally just 2 feet away from the base and the phone has been charging all night. As soon as place the phone on the base it'll work showing the battery is full, but when I take it off, it does it all over again.

VTechCS6719-16: I get no Dial Tone, cannot answer or reject calls. Why?

My phone line is fine as I can use a corded landline phone and I have dial tone and can make calls ,receive and reject calls. On this VTechCS6719-16 though, When I pick up the phone and press the green “talk” button, the “In Use” light on the base station lights up, but i hear no dial tone at all.

When I call this number with my mobile phone, the cordless phone rings . I press the green button to answer and the LCD switches to the call time counter…00:00 - 00:01 etc..but the “phone is still ringing” on my mobile phone earpiece, which means the cordless phone didnt really answer the call…same problem with the red button and call rejection. Cannot reject calls..The phone ringer gets muted and when placed back in the base, it starts ringing again..

I have tried “resetting” the phone, as per Vtech Customer Support instructions, i took out the batter, and disconnected the base station from the power supply..for a few minutes and de registered and re registered the handset with the base. The key tones etc work and the phone speaker works fine so I dont think its a speaker issue..

PLEASE HELP.

Vtech Landline Phone: Power surge fried old base, pairing issues with new base: VTech LS6405

A thunderstorm blew the base to my cordless phone system. I’m convinced that the surge came through the telephone line as the VTech base was the only device to sustain damage even though there were other devices plugged into the same surge suppressor. I’ve purchased a new base set (they come with three handsets), and I’ve replaced the old surge suppressor with one that has a telephone In/Out to prevent something like this from happening again, but I’m having trouble figuring out how to pair my old handsets to the new base.

I always save my User Manuals, so I read through them for both the base and the accessory handsets. Nothing in those manuals addresses how to deregister a handset from a base without using the base. Using the old base is NOT an option as it’s completely nonfunctional in its current state. In addition, because the old base is completely fried, all of the old handsets are displaying an “Out Of Range Or No Pwr At Base” error message. No matter what button I press, I cannot get past this message into the handset menu.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this I’d be super grateful. I really do not want to spend an additional $150 on new handsets over a pairing issue when the old ones work perfectly fine.

A side note: I’m actually pretty good with computer repairs and building/tearing apart a laptop or PC, and I just ordered the parts to repair the Lightning port and replace the battery in my iPhone and feel confident that I’m capable of doing that, but when it comes to repairing other electrical devices, my knowledge is pretty limited (for example, I have zero experience with soldering). I tried to see if I could find where the damage in the old base was but I couldn’t figure it out myself. That being said, I’m willing to learn if someone thinks they can walk me through how and where to look for the problem
