Valve Index Controller: Stuck in error state

The grip came apart on the inner side and it caused a small tear in the ribbon cable (the big ribbon cable). Now the controller can't leave the error state, it always flashes red from charge or power on and after hard resets. I think replacing the big ribbon cable would fix it, is there somewhere i can buy it and instructions to replace it?

Update (08/02/25)

Open to any suggestion of what's causing this

This is the only damage that i could find. It's a very small tear. I suspect that this is the problem because the grip was loose on that side, it put stress right on that cable. I started getting the error state about 4 months ago, hard reset had always gotten it to work again. Recently the grip broke off and hard resets don't fix it anymore, so i took it apart and this is the only thing that looks wrong.

Valve Index Controller: Left Controller buttons and joystick have stopped working

My left controller now no longer works in regards to any analog input EXCEPT the system button. The system button turns it on but it does not pair. It does pair if plugged in, whether to the computer or to the usb on the front of the headset. When I do this I can now use it and it tracks hand position and finger position. But I am not able to move in any game or hub with the joystick and cannot use the buttons.

By extension this means I cannot manually pair it either since the b button does not work. This caused me great frustration be fore I thought to plug it in and try it. Since the re pair instructions say to hold System plus b to re pair.

Is there any precedent of this occurring? Is there a guide for taking apart the controller and Identifying the problem? And if not where would this problem be? somewhere on the board I presume.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Valve Index Controller: Controller won't always read stick input fully

I assume this is a similar issue to the stick drift and that following the same guide for that could work out, but Thought I may as well post a question first to see if anyone has a better idea of it.

Basically if I fully tilt the joystick on my left controller forward it will (inconsistently) read as only being about 60-70% forward. This means if I want to move at a decent clip in any games I've gotta go sideways or backwards, lol.

I'm hopeful that inconsistent nature of the issue could just mean it needs a cleaning especially since the controllers is in pretty good physical integrity (It has a hit a wall or three, but never so hard as to chip any plastic or anything. Just some paint streaks on it now, lolol) but impacts at all could totally have knocked something loose internally.

I think what caused it is the same as most- playing a game that has you click down on the stick to do something like running, so you end up pressing forward and down on the stick multiple times and the potentiometers get real sad about it

Any insight or educated guesses would be awesome to hear, thanks for taking the time here in any case!
