Valve Index Controller: Battery Replacement for Index Controllers

In February we were promised guides and parts for the valve but this place is empty and void of any valve teardowns or parts. What happened? Was the plan scraped? Lots of users need new batteries for the controllers, some of those devices are 3 years old now.

It’s still the 2nd most popular vr headset on the market.

Valve Index Headset: Headset completely lacking sound, Valve support says I can repair it?

Long story short, something about my HMD is wrong. Valve support won't help me much further than "you bought it from a 3rd party seller so we won't give you a new one but you can buy another one or go to iFixIt." The HMD does not produce sound. Not via the speakers nor the 3.5mm jack. The problem persists between computers, where windows says it is sending sound, but the headset does not receive it. What could I even replace to fix this problem? is it possible it's really just the cable and not the HMD?

Valve Index Headset: Audio silent after eyetube repair--what cable might be loose?

So the headset is working visually but I no longer have sound. I tried some of the obvious troubleshooting steps--making sure the output is set to the headset in both SteamVR and windows, deleting and re-scanning the entry in device manager, trying to update drivers, etc. But I must have clearly made a slip in repairing, and I'd just like to know what I need to do to make it right. Thanks!

While working this one make an insanely loud buzzing noise (like something was block under the rotor or something close to it). I try reaching valve concerning the problem but they told me my warranty was already over. As right now, i'm looking for a place where i could get it fix or even just try to fix it myself but i don't know which tool would be the best to open the curve glass from the basestation.
Valve Index Controller: Turns on then off. Light from orange to white, no more charge

I can turn on the controller, but after two seconds it immediately turns off.
I plugged in with a cable meter, and the controller accepts a charge at 0.5w with an orange light, but after 2 seconds, it then goes to 0.0w and the light turns to white, as if it has a full charge.

Letting it trinkle-charge for 10 minutes, then unplug and hold down the System Button, doesn't change anything.

This feels like a battery issue, because the controller can turn and stay on if plugged in to an external power source. It can no longer hold a charge of the advertised 7 hours minimum.

Valve Index: Need to find the correct the correct screw sizing for the speakers

My sons left speaker fell off and the screw is long gone. The speaker itself needed replaced so I ordered a new one from ifixit. Got the replacement and it doesn't come with a screw. I found this guide on ifixit with a link to some screws -> Where to get replacement screw for Valve Index?

So I figured I could order the size listed in that post: M1.7x8mm

Ordered some off eBay and found out that the length is correct but the M size is incorrect. The original is slightly bigger then the ones I ordered.

Does anyone know the actual size of the screw for the index speakers?

I will buy some but have no idea what to get, I even popped down to my local ace hardware but they don't have anything small enough.

Update (06/07/23)

I have found success, a M2 8mm screw will fit the headphones.

Not sure on the tolerance but I took a chance on M2 size screws. Here is what I got off of amazon -> https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09TVP1G5B?psc...

Valve Index Headset: Can the microphone be replaced/fixed?

I just recently bought a used Valve Index. Despite what I try I can’t seem to get the mic to work at all. I’ve listen to multiple online forums and videos and NOTHING has worked. I’ve made sure it wasn’t muted anywhere, this is including SteamVR and the control panel. Windows picks up the mic and displays it at the default but the mic just doesn’t work. Even plugging in my regular gaming headset to the Index, the mic from my gaming headset doesn’t get picked up but I can hear the sounds. Can the Valve Index mic be replaced or fixed?
