Valve Index Headset: My headset is blinking red

My headset has blinking red lights and SteamVR keeps saying the headset is not detected.
It will go from blue, to green briefly, back to blue, and then start blinking red.

I have attempted to delete and reinstall SteamVR, looked into adjusting config files, and made sure the rest of the equipment worked (Base Stations, controllers, trackers). Only the headset is experiencing this issue.

Valve Index Controller: Turns on then off. Light from orange to white, no more charge

I can turn on the controller, but after two seconds it immediately turns off.
I plugged in with a cable meter, and the controller accepts a charge at 0.5w with an orange light, but after 2 seconds, it then goes to 0.0w and the light turns to white, as if it has a full charge.

Letting it trinkle-charge for 10 minutes, then unplug and hold down the System Button, doesn't change anything.

This feels like a battery issue, because the controller can turn and stay on if plugged in to an external power source. It can no longer hold a charge of the advertised 7 hours minimum.

I've seen a eBay seller that is selling a replacement part, but I'm not sure how I would get to that part of the controller. I've checked out the other 2 guides on these, that being the Battery Replacement and the Hand Strap replacement, but neither of them don't get very close to that part of the controller.

Valve Index Headset: No Audio, or audio without vision - hardware problem?

So I have my Valve Index for a while although use it very rarely and it never had any issues and was never abused dropped etc.

Valve Support don't want to help me anymore and send very vague and random tips and tricks I already saw everywhere on the Internet.

From some time ago it started to behave strange - when I open SteamVR randomly I get a session in which I hear sound but, there is no vision - just grey color. Then after Restart Headset function the vision comes back but there is no sound.

You can believe me I did everything I can to my PC, drivers, bios setups, different ports, registry keys, windows settings - all of it.

I ordered original tether cable from Valve - did not change anything, therefore I assume it must be Headset itself.

Any idea why there can be randomly a session with audio but no vision, or more often a session with vision but no sound at all?

I'm desperate enough to open up this whole thing and start investigating everything on the PCBs but if anyone has any clue where to start that would be great! Thanks!

Valve Index Headset: Head set tracking and steam not reacting

SO here is the long and short. for three years I've had worse and worse issue with my right controller just stopping tracking it just falls to the floor and still moves my button presses but no location tracking. well now that I'm past the warranty period i finally got some one to not just tell me to resend the error data for the 7th time. they said repair the interior tracking parts in the headset as the error seem to implement the headset. However they also say they have no idea what that is. so.... what part do i need to replace here. I can't afford a new headset just to test that's the issue. this has been long and drawn out and i cannot even play in vr any more its bad bad.

So the headset is working visually but I no longer have sound. I tried some of the obvious troubleshooting steps--making sure the output is set to the headset in both SteamVR and windows, deleting and re-scanning the entry in device manager, trying to update drivers, etc. But I must have clearly made a slip in repairing, and I'd just like to know what I need to do to make it right. Ive tried going through steam support and they said this site was the only option besides buying a new controller. the left hand middle and ring fingers always act as thoug Im touching them even though I am not. is there a way to fix this?

Headset port connected to the tether got super scratched up from fiddling trying to get the cord in at 3am and won't connect anymore. Is there any way to repair/replace this part so I don't have to buy an entirely new headset?

Valve Index Controller: Middle finger tracking failure

The finger tracking is starting to show a lot of wear, and the ones on the left hand have stopped tracking the middle finger entirely, leaving me no choice but to flip the bird when I want to clench a fist. Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot this?

Issue: Headset Display Disconnected. Steady Red Light on headset. No Display.

Attempted Fixes:

Reset Headset [FAILED]
Restarted Computer [FAILED]
Updated Graphic Drivers [FAILED]
Reseated Cable at Every possible breakpoint (Display port, USB port, Power Cable, Break point for power cable, Break point for tri-cable, Headset port) [FAILED]
Move to known good Display Port on GPU and known good usb cable [FAILED]
Replaced Both parts of Cable with New Cable from IFixIt [FAILED]
Reset all SteamVR USB drivers [FAILED]
Attempted to see if it was an incorrect resolution setting but couldn't even detect headset in display settings.
Tried a different computer [FAILED]

Has anyone experienced this or have any ideas on how to figure out the source of the issue?

Valve Index Headset: What kind of glue is best to replace lenses and dust gasket?

The glue holding the dust gasket around the eye cups came off and now there is a lot of dust on the screens. I am planning on getting a replacement gasket and taking out the lenses to clean the screens. Does the replacement gasket come with glue? If not what type of glue should I use to secure the gasket to the lenses and what type of glue to secure the lenses to the eye cups?

Company sucks, didn't tell me it was a unique screw for the earphone, is there a different screwdriver that can fit it or is it unique? Current one it recommends is the T6, which is out of stock.

Valve Index Controller: Thumbstick Cap Replacement for FJ06k-S(Valve Index Controller)?

Hi! First time here so sorry if I lack any proper etiquettes with the question..

With model reference: FJ06k-S in mind...

Problem: The thumbstick cap for my Valve Index Controller fell off and my cat chased and bit it to death so its unusable.

Question: Any recommendations on which caps I can use to fit over top and replace it?

Clarification: It doesn't have to be a whole switch, quite literally the plastic that fits over top of the stick that comes out of the switch. The flat thumb rest with a hollowed out tube underneath it that I can fit over the switch.

Attempted Solutions:

1. I've tried the xbox pro controllers cap, but they have 4 indents inside that make it unusable and no matter how hard I try to sand it, it wont. It's too tight.

2. Electrical tape bundle, but it looks ugly and stupid and the sensor doesn't work through it.

3. Make a fake cap out of plastic and just try to deal with it, but seems to be such a half butt solution.

4. Repair the actual cap itself, but it's in pieces and not worth the effort.

5. Search online for many caps but they're all too tight, or I haven't found the specific right size for.

6. Try to remove one from any other controllers, but they're all one piece, so it's not a viable option.

Valve Index Controller: Battery Replacement for Index Controllers

In February we were promised guides and parts for the valve but this place is empty and void of any valve teardowns or parts. What happened? Was the plan scraped? Lots of users need new batteries for the controllers, some of those devices are 3 years old now.

It’s still the 2nd most popular vr headset on the market.

Valve Index: Right side speaker cutting out periodicially, no obvious cause

My Index's right speaker is frequently cutting out during use, especially if I pull the headset off my face to adjust it or apply any pressure to the bottom right of the headset, which is making me think its something internal that's causing it. So far I've tried these solutions:

cleaning the contacts with alcohol
replacing the speaker entirely
using a different trident cable
putting an o-ring around the mounting point

I've had no success. I can't find any breakdowns of the mobo that might detail where the speakers connect up to it, so I'm nervous to go rooting around there without knowing what I'm looking for. The unit was bought refurbished over a year ago, so I don't have a warranty to claim unfortunately.

Any ideas?

my left controller will not track at all and light wont come on. In game i can still move around and access the steam menu but my hand will not track no matter what i do i would love to know how to fix this if at all possible and what board needs replacing

Any way to fix a headset that wont update? Example when it prompt theres an update and ive clicked update says its going to begin or what not but then it dissapears and closes and doesnt update, no error code nothing.

Ive reinistalled SteamVR - Turned to SteamVR Beta and nothing
Admin mode nothing
Steam support. - they just sent me here, claiming they sent me a replacment dud.
IVe done alot other things and can't get it to work or update

Just for some more details on the jitter, (witch is maybe fixed by the update that i cannot update) When you put the headset on, and move your head to look around the screen is shaking like the SteamVR home page is undergoing a earthquake but outside of vr if your looking at the desktop screen, it looks super smooth

Valve Index Controller: Stuck in error state

The grip came apart on the inner side and it caused a small tear in the ribbon cable (the big ribbon cable). Now the controller can't leave the error state, it always flashes red from charge or power on and after hard resets. I think replacing the big ribbon cable would fix it, is there somewhere i can buy it and instructions to replace it?

This is the only damage that i could find. It's a very small tear. I suspect that this is the problem because the grip was loose on that side, it put stress right on that cable. I started getting the error state about 4 months ago, hard reset had always gotten it to work again. Recently the grip broke off and hard resets don't fix it anymore, so i took it apart and this is the only thing that looks wrong.
