VTech Safe And Sound DM221: One monitor "not register" other is linked

We have one audio monitor that is linked and another on that says “not register”. The owners manual doesn’t mention how to handle this problem. We tried turning off and unplugging all of the devices. Does anyone know how to handle this? We bought it second hand.
