Troy-bilt lawn mower: Mower will not engage - wheels do not move forward

My self propelled mover is a Toy Built 22", 5.50 horsepower, Briggs and Stratton 550 Series, 158 cc, Model Number

12A-264U011, number directly the model number is 303526.

I changed the height of cut today, started the mower, engaged the self propelled arm and processed to cut grass. The mower moved forward and cut about5 feet, then all of a sudden just stopped moving forward. I released the arm and engaged again, the mower moved forward under power, then stopped again.

Can you tell me what to look for? I did note that the line that is attached to the forward motion arm is a bit loose, that is, it has some slack in it.

This has been a great mower. I had it exactly one year and 3 months. I purchased this mower after my husband passed and needed something I could handle at the old age of 70.

Awaiting your response.

Troy-Bilt Lawn Mower: Riding Lawn Mower, Engine dies, gas in oil.

Hello, I recently purchased a 2004ish Troy Bilt Pony. The carburetor was leaking gas from the breather tube, and the oil had gas in it. So I replaced the carb and oil. Now the gas stays in the tank. However, when I start the engine, it seams to sometimes struggle, but eventually starts and runs for about a minute. Then it slowly putters out, almost like it's out of gas. If I wait about 30 seconds, it will start up and do the same thing again. I checked the fuel lines and gas cap and they seem to be fine. I also rechecked the oil and there is definitely still gas in the oil. I am not sure if it was residual from the old problem, and I am not sure if that is related to it shutting down. - Extra info, when the engine is started in choke, it puffs black smoke with each stroke. -

I am very new to working on engines and would appreciate any and all suggestions. Thank you for your help!

Troy-Bilt Lawn Mower: PTO wont engage the belt

I have a 2009 Troy Pony 13AN77KG011. The PTO cable broke, so I replaced it with a new cable 946-04173E. When I went to engage the blades, the belt is still loose. In looking at the cable, it seems like the cable from the end of the housing (where it sets/pins into the deck) to the spring that attaches to the deck brake assembly is too long. Am I missing something? I replaced the blade belt as well thinking that the belt may have stretched. Any help would be appreciated

Troy-Bilt Lawn Mower: troy bilt pony white smoke when I go to mow

I was wondering if anybody could help me out? I have a troy bilt pony that spews white smoke when i go to mow. Its spilling gas especially when i go over bumps and i think thats the cause of the smoke, the gas onto the hot metal. I have absolutely no idea what it could be or where it could be leaking from as i know nothing about engines. Any help would he great.

I have already try this solution greenry ethusiast provided this information:

- Check the gas lines for leaks. Check the carb for leaks and tighten it if it's loose. Also, check the carb float. It may be sticking open, letting it flood.
- Check your oil level? Also to see if it may smell like fuel.

Could you please help me to understand how to solve this at home?
