2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma: Keeping mice out of glove compartment

I had a disgusting situation that I’d like to prevent from happening again, without having to kill the mice that live around my house :(

I live in northern NY where it is cold for a very long time. My 2016 Tacoma (maybe a year old at the time) began to not have a new car smell but rather a horrid undefinable smell. I couldn’t figure it out, so would turn my dashboard fan and heat on in an attempt to ‘blow the smell out’ of the truck. For days, I could not figure this out. It was not improving. I thought it was my shoes! It’s been a couple years, and so I can honestly say I don’t remember how I figured it out…… There was a dead mouse and it’s nest was on top of the air filter under/inside the glovebox. I have heard from other people/mechanics since that Toyota’s are known for this. Is there a way to figure out how they are getting in and block it? Thank you! Anne

1995 - 2004 Toyota Tacoma: Why does my air conditioner only work sometimes (intermittently)?

Why does my air conditioner only work sometimes (intermittently) in my 2000 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner? It stopped working last summer and a few days later it was cooling again. It seems to work when it wants to but it does seem to stop cooling if I've been out driving a couple hours. I may not drive for a couple days and it will cool again. Does anyone know what would cause this and how to fix it?

2005-2015 Toyota Tacoma: Is it actually the transmission or ..humor me better yet advice too!

My 2014 v6 taco seems to get stuck in 3rd ish gear when decelerating ex getting off a hwy exit, to accelerating again. More weird is worse when tank hits 1/4 tank. Winter season so far seems to mess w it more. My mechanic wants to send to his transmission guy…but I avoid and run when transmission issues arise. (Very dumb yes) but I try solving/solving all the other issues it could be cleaning maf sensor, DIDNT DO O2 sensor, but I know some but not all and get nowhere. Determined to see myself first if I can extend its life bit longer w/out the word transmission replacement.

Has 131,492 miles on it mostly hwy too. And was 2nd truck when flipping homes.

Codes usually randomly will say it’s air/fuel ratio issue (why was thinking sensors or gunk buildup) no check engine light on ever..only may occasionally come with Traction control off light. Never blinking check engine. Only 2 lights that EVER COME ON. if got stuck in gear on hwy and it’s too stop and go. I pull over, shut it down a minute, start her up and she’s all go. At say 60mph when stuck the rpm’s never hit the red zone near 5up but good 4 and wants to go next gear but doesn’t.

2005-2015 Toyota Tacoma: Toyota Tacoma Clicks When Starting

I have a 2009 Toyota Tacoma.

I had an issue about a year ago where it started to “click” when I would start it.

First I was told it was the battery so I bought a new battery. A couple days later it started doing it again and I was told it was the starter so I bought a new starter.

Now almost a year later, my friend tells me yesterday it started doing the “click” before turning over thing again.

It happened 3 times yesterday and today while she was telling me about it, it took 5 times before it turned over. I could hear the “click” each time she tried to start it.

Surely the starter can’t be bad I just replaced it a freaking year ago.

Also, it seems to be getting worse at an alarming rate considering it just started yesterday and went from 1-2 “clicks” before turning over to the 5 I heard this morning.

Any ideas on what it might be?

I do understand it could be a faulty Starter but I also know it could be a dozen other things. Spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, wires, pipes… whatever.

I am hoping that with the alarming rate it appears to be dying at or at least having issues whatever the problem is it will give someone a tip to point me in the right direction.

I have had starters die before but Never one this fast so I am hoping it is something else as I will be seriously PO’ed as I had it less then a year and it is dying….. I already drove over the 24,000/2 year warranty so I can’t even use that.

Anyway, if you can help please do so,

Thanks
