I have 89 Toyota pick up. When I crank after driving for 30 minutes on a hot day, my starter will click and not turn over. I have to wait 5 to 10 minutes before the truck will turn over. I am attempting to swap a 2016 (3rd Gen) Toyota Tacoma instrument cluster into a 2008 (2nd Gen) Tacoma. I understand that the 2016 cluster relies on CAN-bus data while the 2008 model uses a mix of analog and BEAN protocol.

Does anyone have a guide or the specific CAN-bus message IDs and pinout mappings to make this communication work? I am looking for:

1. The CAN-H and CAN-L pin locations on the 2016 cluster.

2. The specific message IDs the 2016 cluster expects for Speed, RPM, and Engine Temp.

3. Any experience using an Arduino or similar gateway to translate the 2008 signals into the 3rd Gen format.

Any wiring diagrams or technical data for this specific conversion would be greatly appreciated!
