Toshiba Television: TV Turns On, Shows Logo, and Then Turns Off

Hey y’all. I have a Toshiba 55L621U that turns off soon after it is powered on. Most of my research says that this is a power supply issue, but I have seen some people say it could be a mainboard issue.

When I turn it on, after it turns off, the red power indicator light usually stays solid for a bit, and sometimes the red led goes out right after the tv turns off. No blinking lights.

Do you guys have any suggestions on how to confirm what the issue is? I’m not hugely TV savvy but I’m tech savvy and I’m not worried about ruining this thing, as otherwise it’s going to get scrapped. Thanks in advance!

Toshiba Television: My tv won’t turn on

I have a 2018 Toshiba flatscreen with a model # 43LF621U19. It could turn on before I went to work and when I came back it wouldn’t even power up. No running noise from the fans and nothing from the power light. When I dismounted it from the wall there was a distinctive smell of burnt plastic but taking the shell off (23 screws later) I saw nothing melted or smoking on either boards. I checked continuity (the only thing I’m capable of) and there was the correct amount of voltage running into the main board, but couldn’t get readings from anything else. I then found what must have been burning, a small plastic spool with a thin copper wire wrapped around it, plastic melted where it had contacted the wire. Any thoughts or assistance? If I can I’d rather not have to buy a new television.

Toshiba Television: power up and state that it is a toshiba TV but then would go to black.

This same exact thing happened to me tonight.

My model number is: 55L621U

“ I just watched something two nights ago and then the next day the TV would not turn on. I tried unplugging it and then plugging it back in. The TV would initially come on. It would power up and state that it is a toshiba TV but then would go to black. The red power light at the bottom right hand side of the TV would stay on for about 30 seconds and then it too would shut off. I then tried the unplugging and holding down the TV power button for 30 seconds. That had the same results. Hope you can help. We have had the TV for about 3 years.”

Toshiba Television: Toshiba FireTV image jumps with horizontal lines every two seconds

Hi,

I have a Toshiba FireTV that was purchased brand new in June 2019. Last week, the image randomly started jumping around every two seconds. The image is fine for two seconds, then starts jumping for another two seconds, goes back to normal for two seconds, jumps again, etc (see the video below). The issue normally starts happening after the TV is opened for a while. At the beginning, only the bottom of the screen jumps around, but the whole screen becomes affected after a couple of minutes. The sound is intact and the back light is working as usual.

The issue happens when opening the TV, in the “Start” menu, in the “Settings” menu and on any input (ex: DVD player, TV, Netflix). I closed and reopened the TV, restarted it from the settings, went back to factory settings, unplugged and plugged the power cable and unplugged and plugged the HDMI cable. The issue persists no matter what I do.

I never fixed a TV before, but from what I read so far, it appears to be a T cable issue. Before purchasing a replacement part, how can I be sure that the T cable is at fault? Lastly, where can I purchase a T cable for a Toshiba FireTV? I can’t seem to find the part number anywhere.

Thank you!

Hi all, wondering if somebody could advise me if my tv is worth fixing?

Toshiba tv (Model - 50UL2063DB) started flickering in the bottom sections of the screen for a few weeks and then 1 day go to turn it on but the screen switches on but stays black (well a lighter black then when it's switched off). - screen then switches itself off after a minute or so.

I can hear sound in the background.

What I've tried so far, unplugging any devices and trying to get the tv menu up on the remote (Nothing).

Shining a flash light at the screen but see nothing.

Unplugging for a couple of minutes but still nothing.

Took the back panel off disconnected all the wires to the tcon board and other boards and reseated them, still nothing and no visual signs of damage (that I can see but I'm not clued up on tv repair).

I've read it can be either the tcon board or the main board that needs replacing, is it worth trying to replace these, if so which one is it likely to be?

Thanks in advance.

UPDATE - I removed one of the 2 ribbons on the tcon board and half the screen lights up as usual now and picture is back to 1 side but then does start going faint - does this confirm a tcon board problem? - please help

TOSHIBA TV SMART: Picture still distorted and white

Need Help!!!. I've been trying to repair a Toshiba 50ul2063db. The TV was only 15 months old when it went faulty. The picture would not come through but still had a glow which told me the backlight was ok. After watching loads of YouTube videos I decided to replace the mother board but still had same problem. I then decided to replace the Tcon board, a picture did come through but it was white, distorted with horizontal lines and also the whole picture would flick from white to black every other second. I then decided to remove a ribbon cable from the Tcon board. The first cable was the left, the picture was dark on one side and white on the other but I could make out the app images when I pressed the home button on the remote. I then put that cable back in and removed the right cable from the Tcon board. The picture was distorted both sides.

Toshiba LED TV 40PB200: Grey lines on the right hand side then cycles through colours

My Toshiba CT-8533 TV, once turned on, after about 2 minutes it will lose the image when grey lines on the right start to appear. The sound is still running, it will then cycle through different colours - white, red, blue, green. The only way to stop this is to turn the TV off, wait a few minutes, then back on. However this has stopped working now and as soon as the TV is on, it cycles through the colours. It's just over a year old, is there anything I can do to fix this?
