Teenage Engineering OP-1: Why won't audio come from the right channel of my OP-1?

I have made sure that all the tracks are panned towards the center, but no audio comes from the right channel. If it is plugged into speakers or headphones and panned to the center, audio only comes from the left side. If it is panned to the right no audio come out. I was curious as to if there is something I am missing or if this is a hardware problem that requires repairs/parts. Thanks!

Teenage Engineering OP-1: Cannot get sound from right channel

I tried replacing the connector board and even with the brand new one I cannot get signal in the right headphone speaker. Troubleshot headphones, firmware and did a factory reset. What else should I try?

Hey, so the four button on my used OP1 stopped working recently. I noticed it a few weeks ago. But, when I wiggled the button it seemed to work again. But, now it doesn’t work at all. I assume it’s a mechanical issue. Can someone tell me what I can do to fix this button myself?

This part is notoriously always sold out.. i have been trying to get this board for 4 years and its BS that they are always poached and resold. last image is the only seller i can find right now for 300 bucks. does Ifixit or teenage engineering care?

Teenage Engineering OP-1: Why does my OP-1 keep restarting

Hey everyone, I have so many issues with my OP-1 it's driving me a bit nutty.

My first issue is the audio is only outputting a signal from the right side. I've checked the sync settings and in the mixer everything is being sent down the middle. I get a tiny output from the left side but it's very quiet and distorted. I have tried multiple cables and the OP-1's output settings too.

My second issue is that my OP-1 will often just turn itself off, go to restart, then crash. Sometimes it will turn back on and other times it won't until I reinstall the firmware. It keeps happening and won't consistently stay on for more than 30 minutes. ⏎

I really want to use my OP-1 for my live show but I can't in this state. Any advice is deeply appreciated! I've replaced the connector board recently (twice!) and the problems still persists. Thanks ⏎

Hi,

I currently have an op-1 dsp which doesn't turn on and I need to access the recovery menu to upload firmware, but I am missing the keyboard for it and it's currently out of stock.

Would someone be able to tell me which 2 pins on the keyboard flex cable or the ui board ffc connector are used for the com key?

Hi,

My OP-1 wasn't getting recognized over USB, so after some lengthy research I bought a new connector board replacement but it didn't change anything. My OP-1 will charge and turn on but It won't show up as a drive in any computer that I've tried. PLEASE HELP.

Hi,

One day last year my left side disappear on my line output. I bought a new board to change it. Every step are easy, no problem but when i start the OP1, the problem wasn't resolve.
I change the firmware, reset factory few times.. Someone have an idea ?

For a few dyas now my op-1 one is been acting weird. My sequencer key is getting triggered when playing D# and vice versa. This makes playing impossible. Is my op-1 doomed?

Will the OP-1 replacement keyboard ever be in stock again? One of the clamps that holds the key in place snapped and the key won't stay. The key is fine, it's the connector on the keyboard itself that broke. I know the OP-1 field came out so I'm a little nervous support for the original OP-1 has ended.

I've read every blog as well as watched the very, very few videos with regards to this problem and yet the outcome is still the same....upset individual.

when you hold down the help key you can check the battery level indicated by the VU/battery meter located on the right side of your OP-1.the battery level is indicated by the LED array on the right side of your OP-1.all LEDs lit (including the red) indicates a fully charged battery good for around 16 hours of heavy use. The stand-by time is approximately 2 years.to recalibrate the battery meter please do the following: disconnect USB, turn your unit on and leave it on until it turns off by itself. do not manually turn off the unit. this could take up to 18 hours. the unit is off when the screen has turned black.after this, charge it fully using a computer or any standard USB charger. this can take about 2.5 - 6 hours depending on your situation. (the battery is 1800mA). this should recalibrate the battery indicator.

2nd type of instruction

Make sure the OP-1 is turned off.

Disconnect the USB cable and wait a few seconds. Important!

Connect OP-1 to a computer or charger using USB and leave it turned off for a few hours.

After this disconnect USB again and leave it turned off for about three seconds.

Finally reconnect the unit again. Does it charge now?

Try this a few times, and report back.

Nope, not even the above instructions worked. Never has it ever left the studio nor handled by anyone other than me. Please HELP ME Please.

I have two button of my OP-1 that does’nt work. I tried to change them, and to unconnect the keyboard and reconnect it again thru the tutorial on fixit for hanging the keyboard. Is ther any other thing i can try?

Teenage Engineering OP-1: Why is my USB port not working?

The USB-port (data connection!) is not working (whereas charging via USB is).

I got to know this, when I wanted to save my work and I could not. I tried different PCs with different OS (win xp, win 10, linux ) but the PCs did not recognize my USB device OP-1. Either (most of the time) the PC did not react at all or it showed the message "The last connected USB device could not be recognized.".

Okay, then I did something crazy: I tried all of the five options in the TE boot screen.

Most of the options worked, unfortunately option 8. "Format Drive" too.

After that my OP-1 did not work at all. I can switch the device on and off, but that's all, no button is operating. The device is still charging. Invoking the TE boot screen is possible and choosing the options as well, but because of the defective USB port nothing more is possible. BTW I tried several USB cables and several PCs.

Please give me some advice. Is there a TE service point, to which I can send my device in?

I have replaced the Battery for my OP-1 but it still won’t turn on.

Tried COM and power still no go.

Tried all the weird sequences of offs and on’s.

Is there a way to diagnose what the problem is?

Or do I just have to keep replacing parts until it works?

It’s an original model so it could be everything gone bad?

I have rebooted (and possibly upgraded… can’t remember). No change to the fact that the mixer button doesn’t function.
