TI-84 Plus: Calculator randomly turning OFF

My calculator, out of nowhere started turning itself off randomly and resetting the RAM constantly. Sometimes I can turn it ON and use it for a few minute but other times if I just touch it or press any key it will immediately turn off. I have tried changing both batteries and didn’t work. What else should I do? Any idea of what might be?

TI-84 Plus: Unable to access F1-F5 menus despite all other alpha functions working

While I was trying to solve a logarithmic question, I tried to find the logBase( operation via pressing [ALPHA] > [WINDOW], however doing that only leads me to the Window screen and not the F2 screen as I had hoped.

I tried the same thing with the other function menus, and the result was the same thing for each and every button on the top row. All other alpha functions work, I can still type in the alphabet along with the other special characters available when you press the alpha button, I just can’t access the F1-F5 menus. This calculator is on firmware version 2.43, so I believe it’s not firmware related. It has some applications installed from the time that my dad used this calculator in college, however I doubt that any of them would interfere with my ability to access the F1-F5 menus.

I made a quick video to go along with this just in case if my question doesn’t make sense.

TI-84 Plus: How long of a screwdriver do I need to open this calculator?

This is a “new to me” calculator I just got. The reason I need to open it is there was a prior battery leak , as I have found some evidence of :-(. This isn’t a deal breaker for me because it looks like it was cleaned well, but I want to open it to see if there is board damage. It’s been working fine for years as far as I know, but it’s better if I open it and make sure myself. It’s probably okay, but it’s more so I have closure on the state of the board itself. I already replaced the backup battery (LR44) as a precaution because it came with the original NL battery TI uses.

I tried using my old style 64-bit driver kit to get in (it needs a T6 Torx) and it’s too short. As such, I need to know if I specifically need a standalone driver to get in or I can get away with a bit set with the right length. I figure the calculator experts here can tell me if I can get away with long driver bits or if I’m stuck without a standalone driver.

Hopefully this helps, but here’s a photo of the length I’m dealing with:

I’ve never worked on a calculator as I’ve always had disposable ones like the TI-30X IIS (and many, many 4 function ones), so I’m not clueless but I’m also not armed with all the information I would prefer having as I’m about to open a $100+ calculator.

Update (2/27/19)

The good news is the leak didn't affect anything. It's only cosmetic and the board survived. Just needed a good cleaning :-).

TI-84 Plus: Will this operate without batteries?

Received the calculator from someone for my granddaughter. No user guide or charging cord. I happened to have the correct cord from another TI calculator. I have no idea how to use the device but my question is can the calculator be used by being charged with that cord alone and with no AAA batteries inside? Also, should there be a light to show the device is charging? I’ve been charging the device for about an hour, no batteries inside, and no light comes on. Tried to turn on but didn’t come on. Thank you.

TI-84 Plus: Why is a row of buttons on my TI 84 plus not working?

I’ve got a TI 84 Plus in good condition; the only problem is that not all of the buttons work. Specifically the buttons that aren’t working are the “log”, “7”, ”8”, “9”, “x (multiply)”, and the Up button on the keypad. The first 5 of these buttons are in a row straight across the keypad. I’ve tried cleaning the key mat and the big green motherboard, still nothing. There was some yellow gunk on the board when I cleaned, there might have been a battery leak at some point maybe? Any help would be very much appreciated!
