Surface Slim Pen 2: How do I get my pen to work/charge?

After not having used my pen for a while and having it sitting in the charging tray of my Signature Keyboard on my Surface Pro 8, it doesn't seem to work anymore. It's not lighting up when the pen is placed in the tray like it used to. What can I try?

I've run Surface Diagnostic Kit which doesn't test for the pen though, and it doesn't indicate something being wrong with the keyboard. Is there a way to check if the keyboard is not charging it anymore?
