My question is, how is the best way to go about covering the wires again? the best solution I could think of is to buy heat shrink tubing and just ad length to the shielding. But that there also leads to a problem because of the pin connector to the pcb being to large. any ideas or am I over thinking this?

I have an original controller from my Super Nintendo, but have been difficult to press the start button. Can it be a dirt difficulting the pressing, or can it be some problem?
