My camera buttons aren’t working.

the menu button, fn, select button don’t work.

the shutter release button works fine.

the camera isn’t very responsive in manual modes. It works fine in Auto mode.

Sony a7R II: Shutter keeps getting stuck randomly

My camera keeps saying shutter issue randomly and tells me to turn the camera off and on again, sometimes this doesnt even work and I have to remover the battery then it works again until the issue happens all over. Any suggestions?

I sold my a7r II on eBay to a person who bought from me before. It was returned as non-working. The unit worked perfectly before it was sent out. Now after return it is a brick. All screws are in the exact pattern they were in, no damage or evidence of tampering on the outside. I’ve tried multiple batteries and usb cables - there’s no response. Any ideas what inside to look for and what parts may be involved?

Hi, i owned a Sony A7ii for 3 years now, brought it 2nd hand. Had no issues in the past 2 or 3 years.

BUT as of today seems to have minor issues the past days but today it worsens the Menus are switching uncontrollably on its own and sometimes it goes back normal.

I tried to switch ON and OFF the camera or change the battery and remove the cage etc . seems to work for a bit in a few clicks but will begin to switch menus again....

Its very risky to use now...maybe it will delete all the files and photos.

Anyone here having the same ISSUES with their Sony A7ii camera or knows how to FIX this problem?? Would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance :)

I recently buy an Sony A7 Mark 2 and get water damaged and the monitor doesn’t worked anymore.

I changed the monitor and still have some kind of bad contact on the screen so I changed the small control board just behind and the PwB Flexible. Now the screen work but no Backlight

Sony a7R II: Focus Won't Work (auto or manual) any lens

The focus doesn't work on my camera in auto or manual and with any lens. The focus ring turns, but nothing happens with the sharpness of the image. The selection dial on the back is also completely unresponsive, and it periodically gives the instruction to turn off and back on. I've cleaned it, reset it, and updated the software with no change. I opened it up and reseated cables with no change. I go to Tanzania at the end of January so I don't have a ton of time to mess around with replacing parts before just calling it, but am open to repair.

what is the best way to fix a hot pixel at sensor. Do you Think that is necessary change the sensor ?

Tried all steps that is mentioned in Sony website still the same issue, red light always On near battery compartment even if the switch is OFF

Tried removing battery for 24 hrs , tried different laptops n cables, different battery's, chargers , none of them have worked

Tried reinstalling version 4.1 but still unable to do because it says in the end camera was not able to update

Is there any way to manually reset by pressing some secret buttons?

I have tried holding power button without battery inserted for 30 secs

Most of back buttons not working, I do can take picture with or without lens. menu access sometimes is impossible and selecting functions from menu with the rear selector wheel not working either. Please help.

Hello,

Little misadventures happening, I pulled out yesteday my A7rii out of my bag with a shattered viewfinder.

Having checked your teardown report, (Sony a7R II Teardown) it seems that the glass cannot be dismounted and replaced without changing the complete viewfinder itself.

It is however not clear to me if it viewfinder can be accessed and removed just by removing the motherboard cover?

If so, the operation seems definitely doable by oneself.

Sony a7R II: a7riii LCD not working (after replacement LCD and ribbon cable)

So the LCD on my Sony a7riii isn’t working. There’s still a backlight, not a sensor issue as it still auto flicks between EVF and LCD.

I’ve replaced the LCD and the ribbon cable - neither made any difference.

What’s next to try? Thanks!

Sony a7R II: Battery Expanded Inside Sony A7R

So I made a mistake. While traveling on an airplane, pre-Covid times, I put my camera into my luggage, rather than bringing it in a carry-on. Because of the extreme cold, my camera battery, from what I believe, must have expanded inside the camera. To my surprise, a pair of fresh batteries turned the camera on! I replaced each battery that was damaged during this flight, however after a few seconds the camera displays the incompatible battery message, then turns off. I should consider myself lucky that nothing worse happened, but is there anything that I can do to fix my Sony a7R? I don’t mind ordering pieces online and fixing it myself. Let me know your thoughts :)

Sony a7R II: How do I transfer the SN label to another device?

I purchased a Sony camera with a badly scratched base plate. I ordered a new base plate, but I want to transfer the SN label from the old plate to the new one.

How should I do this? I was going to try a hair dryer to loosen it, but thought I’d try here first.

I need a viewfinder frame for my a7RII is there anyplace to purchase this part? Never drop this camera but notice a crack straight under the viewfinder. This must be a defect or something?

Immediately after turning it on, it clicks up and down the shutter on the display and in the viewfinder a camera error is displayed. Turn off the power then turn it on. Tell me what could be the problem. Can I diagnose the camera on my own? Tried to shake the camera a little does not help

I replaced the shutter mechanism on my a7rii using your guide, but didnt notice the shims that align the sensor assembly until they fell off on my desk. Do you have any info on the positioning of the shims?

I have a sony a7 and a memory card broke inside the camera. We were able to remove all the bits, but I'm afraid we damaged something in the process. because the camera can't see any cards now. How realistic is to change thee memory slot for a new one?
