Sony Xperia Z3: Glue is losing grip after LCD repair

Hello everybody.

I've got a small repair shop in Germany and most of the time I fix iPhones and Samsungs.

But lately a lot of customers show up with Sony Xperia Z3's with broken Glass and / or Touchscreen / Digitizer.

To change a LCD-Unit or a Digitizer isn't a problem for me.

I order a brand-new LCD-Unit or Digitizer along with the adhesive tape (already cut out in the right dimensions) off a wholesaler, clean the frame with 99% alcohol and Q-tips or microfibre cloth and install the new screen onto the frame.

And here is the Problem:

The adhesive tape is getting loose after a few days.

Especially on one of the corners at the top of the device.

I never experienced this issue on Samsung LCDs or any other devices except Sony Xperia devices.

I tried to solve this problem by using adhesive tape off a roll (3M) instead using the cut out adhesive tape, but the problem is still appearing from time to time.

Did somebody of you had same issues with this stupid adhesive tapes (cut out or not) and found a way to glue the glass to the frame of Xperia devices?

Like is there some kind of adhesive that is strong enough to hold the glass and frame together?

Thank you very much in advance!

Sorry for my bad english :(

Sony Xperia Z3: Microphone Test Failure- Xperia Z3, D6603

HI,

Recently, when I call someone I can hear them clearly but they cant hear me. On reading about this fault I was informed that it was probably the mic, volume flex which was faulty and needed replacement as the mic is attached to this flex. Therefore, I replaced the flex with a new one, ensured that all the connections were secure but the fault still exists. I’ve run the diagnostics test on the unit and all components pass except for the mic unit (I talk into the mic for the test and I’m getting no playback). My loudspeaker is working fine as I can watch a video and can hear it clearly. I’d appreciate some help on this as I have stripped the unit down a few times without any success. What am I doing wrong?. Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,

Sony Xperia Z3: Why does (only) the lower part of my touch screen not respond?

When I bought this phone second hand, the very low part of the touch screen would not repond, which did not bother me too much. At this at the point the screen had already been replaced one. Then i dropped it and needed another screen replacement. Ive tried three screens now, the first did not work at all, second would only lighten up if i loosened te screen from the frame. now the third shows the full screen, but only reponds to touch in the upper part. Am I just very unlucky with the screens they deliver or is there something wrong with all the screen I ordered? thanks for your help

So I replaced the screen on my Xperia Z3, then I re-installed everyhting, and everything works except the vibrator motor, I thought maybe I broke the motor so I bought a replacement power button assembly (that has the mic and motor) I replaced it, but it still doesn't work.
Sony Xperia Z3: Xperia Z3 loose IC and capacitor (?)

Hi

Some time ago I dropped my Z3 flat down on the street. The front glass was crushed into powder basically. After that the phone and LCD still worked but not the touch screen. Today I got a replacement screen and took the phone apart. When doing so I found a loose IC inside the phone.

If you look at the linked photo below, at the very top of the phone, in the middle, there is the text SUB4, just right of this text is the IC that came loose. With a bit of luck I will be able to resolder it back again. However, directly right of the IC there is a component, probably a capacitor. This one is also missing on my phone, and I haven’t found it.

Does anyone know what component this is, and what value it has?

Also, does anyone know what the IC does?

https://d3nevzfk7ii3be.cloudfront.net/ig...

I added a photo of my phone with the loose IC (1) and where it should be (2), just next to that is the place for the lacking component.

Thanks, Thomas

Sony Xperia Z3: Z3 backlight/display issue after submerging in water?

So I have run it under tap water a few times but it would still work after that. But after submerging (in an attempt to show off my phone, quite embarrassing) it in water for a while, the indicating paper turned red. Moments later condensation appeared in both cameras, flash and indicator, screen flickered when I did a hard reset.

Few days in rice, condensation disappeared and the screen is just black. I have tried Sony PC Companion repair tool. The notification LED flashes and I can hear sounds from the phone responding to my touch.

Does it sound like a software or hardware issue? If it is the former, is there a way I can fix the backlight/display myself?

Should I give it a try?

Phone is still recognizable by my PC.

I have a Sony Xperia Z3 that is not reacting to touch. It gradually got worse and it is now completely unresponsive.

The LCD is working fine, the glass is not broken. So I am guessing it is the digitizer?

Also, this creates some problems with resetting the device. I have been thinking about sending it somewhere to get it fixed, but I want to wipe it first (factory reset).
