Sony Xperia X Compact: Why did my phone stop reading my sim card?

Phone was working fine, until one day it stopped loading apps that used data. I decided to restart the phone by powering it off and turning it back on. The result of this, was it stopped reading my SIM card. I have tried software repair with Sony Companion and nothing has worked (doing the software repair also did a factory reset in the process).

Sony Xperia X Compact: Sim Card not picking up mobile network. Possible software issue (Oreo)

After Oreo no data connection signal - two software repairs etc - no luck.

My sim works fine in other phones, and other sims dont work in the sony. My last resort is sending it for repair but is there anything else I can try at home?

This happened immediately after my phone restarted after the Oreo update, and there is no option to downgrade. Before that, nothing wrong with my signal or putting any sim card in the phone, as its unlocked to any network.

I bought it last April from sony on amazon

Sony Xperia X Compact: Microphone is very quiet

I replaced the screen and frame on a Sony Xperia X compact and since then when calling someone the other person sometimes can't really hear me good, sometimes it works fine and a second later it is very quiet and just doesn't work like it should.

What could the problem be? I already took the phone apart again and looked if there was any dust or something between the microphone (I hope it was the microphone, on the bottom right side of the mainboard?) and the screen but I didn't see anything.

Is it even possible to replace the microphone?

Sony Xperia X Compact: Why is the Mic failing?

I recently bought one of these Xperia X compact but the Mic started acting up. I know it has 2 mics and probably ones is dedicated to apps and the other to calls and both for stereo recording. But after less than a month this started acting on regular voice calls and WhatsApp calls. I can hear the sounds of me touching or hitting the Mic area but if I call it will sound as if I was far away or ina pool. Also if I use the test app it has on support section, it'll work just fine, just as it will record audios in WhatsApp just fine. Any ideas? Hugo.jimenez88@gmail.com

Sony Xperia X Compact: Proximiy sensor not working after disassembling

Hi ifixit-team!

I have a very strange problem with my Xperia X Compact. I got the phone from my cousin. It was used, but fully working, only the head phone jack was defective.

So I bought a new one, disassembled the phone and replaced the jack. I have some experience in repairing phones and think I know what I do.

As you might know, during the disassembling you have to disconnect the sensor bar (with the ambient light and proximity sensor) temporarily from the main board, its a ZIF plug.

After I reassembled my phone again, the proximity sensor was not working anymore. I double-checked the connection of the sensor bar to the main board, but everything seems just fine. The interesting part: the ambient light sensor and the proximity sensor are ONE electronic part. My ambient light sensor is working well, my proximity sensor is not working.

The proximity sensor does not recognize my skin at all. The ONLY thing it still recognizes (used sensor multitool to test the sensor) is white paper or metallic objects. And that only, if they are like 2-3 mm away from the phone.

I have read about exactly this problem under a YouTube video about disassembling the phone, and in one thread on XDA. The guys there also bought new sensor bars, but there ONLY the proximity sensor did not work, too. So I assume this has to do with the SOCKET on the main board, not the flex cable?

I want to emphazise that I did NEVER touch the sensor at all. I only shortly disconnected the flex cable of the whole sensor bar shortly from the main board, and afterwards the sensor was defective. You guys are my last hope, as I am a very poor student. It also seems that few people bought the Xperia X Compact, so there are not very many people on the internet talking about hardware problems or fixing the phone….

P.S.: Of course I also tried cleaning my phone or testing the sensor outside the phone AFTER it went defecitve. No change in behaviour.

Sony Xperia X Compact: Charge port always fails unless you goof around - is this an easy fix?

Phone is about 9 months old for the past 45 days it has been more difficult to get it to charge - when it does connect - it charges fine, have tried 3 different cables & AC/USB adapters, the cradle is about the only one that still works. The Jerko who sold it to me with the 1 year warranty says 'Hello,

you may send the device to Sony for servicing in the UK but please not that if they deem the phone as physically damaged they may charge you an "inspection fee" on top of the shipping charges to send it there.'

Is this any easy fix - I have repaired a few Iphone 4s units in the past.

Thanks

Sony Xperia X Compact: No headphone detection, static sound on left side

Hello,

I have Sony Xperia X compact.

Recently I was trying something with 3.5mm cable.

I plugged 3.5mm cable from my phone to faulty hi-fi system. There was probably electro shock and now my 3.5mm jack wont recognise headphones.

Also there is static sound on my left speaker of headphones when I plug my headphones (I tried other headphones).

Replaced 3.5mm jack on my phone but problem still remains.

Music normaly plays through speakers of my phone. Means that audio chip is fine, I think.

Anybody knows what I can do except going to repair man? I dont have warranty & guarantee.

Thanks

Sony Xperia X Compact: Ghost Touches / No touch response after repair

Hi guys,

I just replaced the charging port on my Xperia X compact. With the replacement all set, i reassembled the phone. It would charge properly, but the screen wouldnt respond.

After a second disassembly to check all connections (all in place) I am experiencing ghost touches all over the place.

Any ideas for a fix?

Please note: Had to remove a plastic cover for the screen-connectors with the first dissassembly. Figured this might be an issue but had the same troubles when holding screen and mainboard “separately”.

Thanks for your help!
