Sony Xperia XZ Premium: Locating display fuse XZ Premium (picture)

Hello all,

My dad's XZ Premium 'stopped working' like two months ago, he took it to a random repair shop who opened it and poked a lot of components so there's no warranty anymore they thought it was a bad battery for some reason.

I found the phone still worked but the screen appeared to be broken so I thought i'd fix it for fathers day with a replacement screen.

I installed the replacement screen but it still wouldn't work, then I found that if I boot it or make a screenshot even though I don't see anything the screen does in fact show an EXTREMELY low change in brightness. It's barely visible at all.

So I supposed it wasthe backlight that doesn't work, so I've read about backlight fuse/jumper repairs on the motherboard. I check the backlight fuse with a multimeter, and it appears to work fine. Then I want to proceed to check the display fuse, but I can't seem to find it given it is marked with the L like it was on the xperia z5 i've seen in video tutorials.

The XZ Premium motherboard around display connector:

(you can see the V marked backlight fuse just on the left side of the display connector(long white)

The Z5:

Hopefully I can find it and find that the fuse needs fixing otherwise I won't have a clue what the issue is anymore... ;/ If someone has other suggestions, that would also be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Edit:

Thanks to Smartfonefix I think I found the issue, visually they already look in bad shape not exactly sure what to test on with these I tried a bit with the diode mode but the numbers don’t say much to me (I do have a working XZ Premium myself to compare values to but I don’t really want to void the warranty on that) though I don’t get a beep on the coil and diode. I’ll try to find out how to confirm it’s either one of these or both but even if it is one I doubt it’s a diy fix. (i think it’s the correct ones that are in the top left/middle-left.

Sony Xperia XZ Premium: XZ premium charges after putting pressure

So before my xz premium completely stopped charging my phone used to randomly stop charging and used to charge very slow. I used a quick charge 3.0 charger and certified usb c cable. I had to put the usb type c cable in a certain position to get my phone charging but after a while it completely stopped charging. I inspected the port it was in good shape no bent, nor broken cleaned the port but no luck. So, I started messing with the phone so I find a way to charge it when I put pressure on the bottom of the phone from front and back altogether where usb port and flex cable is connected it starts charging.

UPDATE:The on board connector for the charging port needs to be replaced or resoldered.

Sony Xperia XZ Premium: Volume rockers don't work after swapping motherboard

Hey there. I’ve recently decided to replace the motherboard in my XZ premium. The old one was faulty, the details are irrevelant. I found a used phone on eBay, checked if everything works and swapped the motherboards. After turning the phones on I realized that the volume rockers are not working. I double checked every ribbon cable connection, everything looks fine. What’s interesting, after swapping the motherboards again the issue persisted. I’m sure none of the phones presented this issue before the dissasembly. Also, I was super cautious during the procedures. I’d appreciate any help.

Sony Xperia XZ Premium: Sony Xperia XZ Premium not charging or turning on

I have a Sony Xperia XZ Premium for about 4 years, has worked fine up until now. I got a battery low warning the other day and hooked my charger up - original plug & cable - the phone powered off immediately.

I held the power button and the Sony screen appeared as normal, but the device again powered off straight away. If I left the charger connected it would go through this loop repeatedly, and also the charging light was erratic - flickering green, flashing red etc. It was the same whether I connected it through a wall socket or to a computer, the Xperia Companion app wouldn’t detect the phone either.

I tried a new charging cable but that didn’t fix it. After a day or two, the Sony screen no longer appeared when I held the power button or connected the charger - instead I got the usual battery icon that appears when the phone is powered off and charging, except rather than there being a charge % and the icon filling with green, there was no % and just a single red line in the icon.

I took the phone apart and replaced the charging port - no change. I then replaced the battery which didn’t fix it, but rather put the phone back in the same state it was when it started having problems initially - repeated Sony screen boot loop.

Would appreciate any suggestions!

Sony Xperia XZ Premium: My xz premium has power ic issue

Hi there,

my xz premium stop working. It doesn't display anything and doesn't vibrate when I plug in the power cable. The display is totally not functioning at all. So I went to the local repair shop and I was told that the problem was with the power IC issue. They also told me that they don't have the parts. So I went around from shops to shops that sell spare parts. Some of them told me that they have the parts for XZ premium but I wanted to make sure that I am buying correct part number. So could any of you help me to find schematic of XZ premium motherboard or workflow like the one I have uploaded.

Long ago the charging port for my XZ Premium broken, and I finally got to fixing it.
