Sony Xperia XZ: Back metal cover removal

Hi, I've seen your Xperia XZ teardown video, great stuff!

But I have a question, since this part is missing from the video.

How do I remove the Xperia XZ's aluminium back plate/cover? Do I need to open up the phone and get to it (is it put in place with screws?), or is it glued on, like the front, and all I need is a heater?

Also, a video of it would be immensely appreciate!

Thank you for your work!

Sony Xperia XZ: Earphones output only right side. Works if I slightly pull out plug.

Hi

I've had this phone for almost a year. I use earphones a lot, audiobooks, podcasts and whatnot. Recently, when I first plug in the earphones, only the right side works. I can't hear anything in the left side. I thought it's the earphones but even with new ones it's the same. But if I pull on the plug slightly and rotate it just a bit, it works. I suspect I need to bend the pins outward a bit but don't know how to do that. If I take the phone apart can I reach the inside of the plug? Any other suggestions?

Any help appreciated,

Thanks

hi there

2 months ago my sony xz stopped working. It had a low charge and went suddenly to blackscreen. When i tried to charge, the red light would turn on, but de device didnt really charge, i couldn´t start it. After a while also the red light wouldnt turn on.

my first thought was that the battery got in deep sleep mode. so i ordered a new battery.

When changing the battery i tested both of them for voltage. Strangely the old one had 4.19, the new had 3.85.

with the new battery inside there was no change of the situation, no charging, no red light.

i thought it might be a problem between charging port and battery plug on motherboard. so having screen and battery removed, i tried to plug in and see if there is any voltage on the battery plug of the motherboard. Since its so small and i dont know where to put plus and minus from my voltage meter, i tried to look for voltage using NCV mode (non-contact-voltage-mode) and it shows me a signal when i hold the meter over the plug.

So i assume that it is working.

so what could be the problem? Could it be that both batterys are in deep sleep mode?

or is it more likely the motherboard itself? or is my way of checking voltage via NCV a bad method?

Im extremely thankfull for any idea!

Sony Xperia XZ: Replaced port flex, charging problem

Hi, I am a novice in phone repairs though I have successfuly replaced the screen and charging ports on a samsung s6 and note 4.

I am requiring some expert advice on this problem, I was given an XZ from my friend with a cracked screen and charging problem, the charging port became temperamental and failing (at least I think it was that) and eventually wouldn't charge at all. The charging port was handled a bit harshly toward the end, for example the charging cable lifted up and down to try to get a charging response.

Anyway I ordered a screen/digitizer and charging port flex for it, and fitted them, following a guide. Before this, the phone had around 2% charge. After the repair, I switched it back on and conncted the charger, the screen was fine, however there was no response from the charger. The phone then ran flat and eventually ran flat enough to not be able to show the "low charge" symbol when the phone is off. Then after plugging and unplugging the cable (via USB in the pc) it would charge for what seemed a second then stop, the red charging notification light was lighting up. The same happened with a wall charger. I then stripped it back down and back together again. This time there was no response if I remember right, then I connected it to the wall charger and left it for 3 hours or so. I went back to it and it had charged up to 15%.

Now i'm at the point where the phone is working, it's on 90% now, but it charges very slowly, around 60-350 mA per hour on Ampere app. So a full charge is around 12+ hours. This is in the wall socket with a fast charger. Additionally, it takes 10 seconds for the phone to recognise the charger after is is plugged in and that is consistent each time I plug it in. The phone now isn't recognised by my PC via USB, and also won't charge that way also, it just doesn't do anything if I plug it in there. Other than that, the phone works and it holds its charge well.

Any ideas? Thank you.

Sony Xperia XZ: How do I fix the bootloop issue after screen replacement?

The original screen on my Sony Xperia XZ had cracked, and thus I replaced the screen by myself. After installing the new screen, however, the phone is stuck in a bootloop.
