Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact: Backlight stopped working on XZ1 Compact

My beloved XZ1 Compact suddenly, in the middle of the day, had the backlight go out. I can only see the display in bright sunlight. My husband is great at repairing phone issues but this has him stumped. Has anyone done this successfully and can give some advice? I can’t find anyone to repair and it’s out of warranty. There’s no phone out there now quite like this and now, 2 years later, buying another one would cost $200 more than what I spent originally on a new one in 2018!

I have XZ1 Compact and have questions regarding a particular elements (see screenshot)

I have three questions:

What this element is for under "12-25" number on the PCB?

Why on the phone back plate the glass, underneath where "12-25" element is located, is darkened? Is it some kind of polarization?

What will happen if that darkened layer is wiped out and becomes transparent, what it will affect?

Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact: Is it ok to glue the xz1 compact top lid?

The thin metal piece at the top of the phone detached from the phone after a fall. Everything still works fine, but still, i’d rather have it attached. Is it ok to glue it, and if so, what type of glue should i use ?

My gps is not working properly. I found online that most users think that it is a hardware issue. I cannot find a guid how to replace the module / repair it. Is it possible to do at all?

Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact: Can I reset my unlocked XZ1C

I bought a secondhand Sony XZ1C that has its bootlocker unlocked and have lineageOS installed. I managed to make it boot into the original OS but it have a password. After trying for a whole afternoon I now just want to reset the whole thing, but I’m not sure whether it’ll be okay to tamper with an unlocked android phone. Any suggestions on what should I do?

Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact: Where is backlight fuse on xz1 compact?

I have a xz1 compact with no backlight. I guess it's the backlight fuse since new display doesn't help.

Have big problem to locate the fuse since there is no V as in earlier models .

Any idea? Can't find any schematic and have no good board to compare diod values.

I want to replace the housing as it is badly damaged and has a crack in it. Please advise what adhesive should be used to preserve waterproofing, if any?

hi i hope you could help me with my problem on my Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact i have done reset even downgrade firmware back to oreo software repair still no chance but when i watch youtube there speaker video call and speaker phone it the only problem and last i use service menu test i found there are Speaker works fine, Earphone works fine, Stereo Left works fine and last Strereo right no SOUND i already replaced ear piece speaker and still had no luck

Simply: where can I buy the narrow bottom panel that covers the mic, USB port and speaker, for this phone? I do not want to send it for warranty repair for 2-3 weeks. It should be easy to attach by myself. Part stores do not seem to sell it.
