Sony Xperia X: Possible back light problem

i broke my phone recently for the second time.....first time screen broke...got the parts fixed it, was all good.......this time it was the touch screen that cracked...and a little while after it went black....didn't think much of it and ordered the parts......

I've replaced the screens over but still no display, i held it up to the window and saw the screen faintly, so i took the screen off the phone (still connected) and i could see my display when it was held up to the light at an angle..... is this the back light? and if so is there a way to fix it?

Sony Xperia X: Is it good practice to soak PCBs in alcohol?

Hello all!

So I’m going to make a second attempt at repairing my Xperia X after removing the metal covers over the NAND, CPU, and some other components. I can’t see any corrosion, but I’ll clean it with alcohol just in case.

Over my experience of repairing this device, I’ve soaked the motherboard in isopropyl alcohol (90% alcohol by volume) multiple times for about 72 hours in total. I want to know if that soak can wear down the traces on the motherboard (which might be launching me into even more uh-oh). If it does wear the motherboard down, how much does it wear away? Given my current soaks, would it have worn away traces?

Thanks in advance!

Sony Xperia X: Waterdamaged - Device Turns Off After Sony and Boot Logo

Sony Xperia 1 .

I dropped the device yesterday and the whole thing got submerged for about 5 seconds or so before I took it out. The back was already cracked so it would not of been ‘water-resistant’ or ‘water-proof’ as Sony market their phones as.

1) I have tried to use Sony’s Software Repair to no success (Assumed it was firmware related)

2) I have disassembled the device and all appears to be dry now.

The screen works perfectly fine on startup. It just shows a white screen for about 1 second with three dots in the middle then shuts off.

Is it worth me ordering parts? And if so, which ones?

Sony Xperia X: Why won't the phone turn on? Only red blinking led when plugged in.

I fixed the display of my cousins Sony Xperia X. It worked great however I didn’t stick the battery and the backcover on. So when he let it fall, the battery fell out. He put it back in, but it wouldn’t boot anymore. The only sign of life is the led blinking red, when the phone is plugged in. Since I had other parts on hand, we found out that the battery was still working and the display isn’t broken either.

Does anyone have an idea where the problem could lie?

Sony Xperia X: No Display After Screen Replacement

Hi,

I cracked my screen on my Xperia X and have just replaced the screen but when I power it on now, I get no display. I also tried hooking up the old broken screen and that also does not display anything anymore.

The phone still turns on as it vibrates as normal on the boot up when pressing the power button but I have no display at all.

The phone still charges OK too as far as I am aware as the LED lights up.

My computer also recognises a device is attached when plugged in as I get the USB noise through the speakers but nothing showing up in my computer although I think this may be as it hasn’t fully powered up as I need to input a pin code.

Any ideas what the problem is here?

I was thinking I may have damaged the motherboard but the phone appears to turn on OK and I can also turn it off using volume up and the power button which turns it off after vibrating 3 times.

The only thing different I have noticed is that the LED notification lights up red for about 5 seconds when initially plugged in and then reverts back to the usual charging colour.

Any ideas what may be the issue here as I am currently phone less without this :(

Many Thanks

Hey! Yesterday I dropped my phone and when I picked it up it was full of coloured vertical lines and I couldn’t see anything on display and it didn’t work, but audio was working.

I thought display was broken and I will need to replace it, but after time, lines were noticeably smaller and I could finally see something on my home screen and then after some time it was totally gone and the phone was 100% working.

Sony Xperia X: Phone Screen not working (no touch)

Hello!

A while back, I dropped my phone in water and immediately disassembled it to dry it off. The symptoms were a screen that either worked perfectly after reboot and then turned black every time the screen was turned on, or a perfectly functional device except that the digitizer did not work. So, after reading some "advice", I soaked my screen in 91% alcohol, leaving permanent marks. Then, I soaked the logic board in alcohol with a vibration assist from a washing machine. The logic board seemed to be fixed, and being a perfectionist, I tried to go a step further by using a food dehydrator to dry the alcohol marks out of the screen. However, after a while of drying (of screen only, vacuum sealed into a container with silica gel and dessicants), the screen digitizer does not work anymore.

My question is this: is the problem with the screen or the logic board? I noticed that some antenna contacts were slightly bent out of shape, but I am not sure what happened to the rest of the board. There doesn't seem to be corrosion. Keep in mind that after the laundry machine vibration, I took the board out of alcohol, but after I discovered the screen issues, I put it in for around 24 hours.

If needed, I can send photos.
