Is it possible to fix a popped out swivel hinge on my sony XM5? I was wearing them and accidentally hit a pole. The swivel hinge on my right earcup cam out :(

Any recommendation or teardown fixes for it? I tried to push it back in, but i cant be fully inserted.

I saw someone with a similar issue with the XM4s. His fix was to remove the ANC mic and clean it (this would make sense as it disappears when ANC is off). However, the internals of the XM5 seem different, at least for the ANC mic. I left it cup side up for a few hours, hoping that might remove any moisture, but it didn't seem to do the trick. Any help?

I feel really dumb for buying the XM5 3 years ago for the full $400, only for the left hinge to break only a year later, I didn't even use it that often and occurred while on my ears. I had opened it up to replace it but never bought a new hinge. If I do, will it just break again? Maybe I could sell it after fixing it? But that feels like a hassle and might get returned from a buyer. All I'm certain of is never buying sony or plastic headphones again.

Sony WH-1000XM5: The headband slider is separating/cracking near the extension poin

Have anyone had such problem? The slider is getting loose and this side is extended to full length almost always, I'm afraid it will lead to other more serious issues.
Tried to push it back together by applying pressure with my fingers but no luck.

when I first got it, it used to charge with just any usb-c cable.

about a month ago it'll only charge on original usb-c.

now it'll not charge with anything.

charging light still turns on, and will be on for hours without charging.

sometimes I get lucky and it actually charges to 100% and battery life seems normal.

everything else works fine.

what could be the problem? Did I break it?

After some time of using this amazing headphones, a sudden kind of "white-noise" started appearing even when in total silence, tried factory resetting them but no success in solving the problem, and it is a bit annoying, any ideas / solutions?

Wh-1000xm5’s was replacing the left hinge swivel, carried out all the steps you mentioned, but when i finished and tried to turn the power on the headphones wouldn’t turn on, checked the battery its got about 4 volts, all the ribbon cables are in the correct place’s using a multimeter meter to check before popping them into the 16 pin’s. I read online i could’ve blown a fuse somewhere not sure where. Any tips or suggestions on troubleshooting to find out whats wrong ?

I got the XM3, and I learned that you have to completely dismantle the headphones just to replace a worn out headband. Is this also true on the XM5's or is it different?

When I enable ANC or ambience mode, the left earcup of my Sony WH-1000XM5 sounds like a windy buzzing sound. I know it’s related to moisture inside the earcup based on what I read in other sites, but I haven’t found anything that can help to get rid of this awful issue.

I had the issue where the left earpiece had some crackling and ocassional cutting in and out and then proceeded to die completely. My uncle gave me his xm5's that he no longer used and I ran into the issue that the bass sounds distorted at decent volumes, and I know these headphones are not supposed to sound like this. I am thinking its a driver problem and am willing to repair them myself. I just need some decent guide or teardown that shows me what to do in order to replace the drivers. Any help is appreciated!

Hello,

I got some Sony WH-1000XM5 for cheap as they needed a new battery. Bought a battery online (non-official unfortunately) and that fixed it. The battery never goes up to 100% but that's not a massive deal.
The more annoying thing is that every time I plug them in to charge, they seem to lose some of their memory. I would turn them on after charging them, and my phone would ask me to reconnect to them and then I have to setup google assistant again and some other things in the app.

Anyone had this happen?

I've had weird scratching/crackling sounds in my right ear after a drink in my bag somehow spilled over. I havent taken it to a repairshop yet. Because I dont have any near me. Also Im not really sure what to do for now.

They will only play (make any kind of noice) on the right side, with or without cable.

Is this a common problem and is it possible to fix by myself?
