Opened it up, separated the power board strip from the plastic and reattached (moisture between the plastic and power board strip was apparently the problem).

But when I put it back together, the left side can no longer works. Tried factory reset, didn't do anything.

While I was repairing the power button issue, I accidentally dropped a screw into the magnetized middle of one of the cups (the right side though, which still works?)

Also had my screwdriver touch the magnetized part. The power ribbon cable was disconnected at the time. Not sure if it could have been that. Anyone else had a similar problem?

EDIT: Found the problem, the green and orange wires that connect the main board to the can have disconnected. But they're so short that I'm not sure how I would be able to successfully reconnect them (with a soldering iron? where exactly would I connect them to, the silver balls?) Wondering if anyone has any advice?

There are so many battery replacement options, and none of them are OEM. The battery market has a lot of rebranding and ambiguous resellers. It's difficult to find a quality option and buying direct from Panasonic or Anker (back when they still sold replacement batteries) doesn't appear to be an option.

Where can I find quality replacement batteries? I don't mind paying premium prices for a good battery with a warranty.

I’m wondering if it’s a speaker that’s dying but I am honestly not to sure cosmetically they look great and I have been using them a bit in this condition with everything else going well.

To clarify the right side still works it’s not dead but this whistle sound will happen randomly and only happens over bluetooth

I recently bought a pair of XM4s off Facebook Marketplace for decently cheap ($100). so I'm okay with them just being completely busted. I took the ear pads off to try to clean it (used alcohol wipes and a bit of soap) after I noticed a bad odor, but they just will not charge. I tried the Reddit solution of holding the power button then plugging it in, but that didnt work. Does this seem like a battery issue, a me being to harsh with cleaning issue, or a Facebook Marketplace issue?

They are useless on buses with noise cancellation turned on. Makes all these loud explosion noises which are in sync with the engine hums. I'm pretty sure it's the mic because in my testing, the mic doesn't pickup ANYTHING at all normally. However if I shout extremely loudly it'll catch the peak of the loud parts.

Any thoughts on my situation? I plan to follow the Microphone Array Replacement guide on this site, I am completely new to fixing stuff. I would love help sourcing replacement parts. On aliexpress I've found these "Original mic noise reduction label for Sony WH-1000xm4 xm3 xm2" but chatgpt says noise reduction labels are not what I need and most likely I need a full Replacement Noise Reduction Microphone but I'm not sure where to find these. I am based in Australia.

I also confirmed there's no issue with the USB cable — tried multiple cables and chargers, still no sign of charging or power.

Has anyone experienced this? Is it likely a dead battery or a charging IC failure?
